Out of curiosity, how old where you guys when when you first got infatuated with star wars.

I was 10.

I am having Trouble with the train of thoughts "i dont like it, this is a kids show, not for adults" when the vast majority of us fell in love with This Galaxy as Pre Teens.

Like no shit its for kids....it always was...
Age 7, 1977 OG movie - dumb ass kid no idea why but there was always a line around the theater for this film. Dad took us like 3-4 different days trying to get in before the theater sold out (only 2 screens in the whole place and they both showed same movie) Instantly hooked , begged / nagged / etc to see it when it came back to theaters and I was already engrossed in the dark art of VHS recording when it finally came out on video. Stayed up all night 1-1 copying Blockbuster tapes one weekend.
It really pains me to see what George / KK / Disney did to this franchise.

Kids movies used to have a lot more tragedy in them anyway. Then we become pussies who think kids can't even read about nazis.

The Sound of Music?

Also remember how many kids got fucked up in Willy Wonka? That shit was scary.
the sound of music is not aimed specifically for kids. Mary Poppins, very much yes. an all ages audience are the entire family or just the curious single adult. we had kiddie programming back in the day. Mr Rogers, Sesame Street, Wonderama, Romper Room, etc. Willie Wonka i think the jury is still out on that. guy who wrote it was a fighter pilot for the RAF and somehow lived thru ww2. thats gonna change you.

its not a kids film, either your memory is flawed or you're being pedantic. star wars didnt have a toy line planned. they had a demand due to the film's success. then they released toys the next year. the content is also not for children. later with ROTJ, yes, it was stupid ewok shit. the orginal is just a movie for all ages to enjoy.
Correct, if you still have Netflix check 'toys that made us' or something like that. It has a bit about the Lucas / Mattel toy line that wasn't anywhere near ready for the success of the movie and having to release 'IOU' boxes that christmas. None of us knew what to expect. Lucas did make some wise business decisions , getting into merch was one of them.

i loved it very much as a kid, but i loved Halloween very much as a kid too, along with Jaws, Jaws 2, Death Race 2000, The Fog, and whatever other film that was big in the 70s. just cuz little kids loved it doesnt mean its for kids. little kids back then didnt need to be pandered to. we could handle any normal film. though The Exorcist was too much for me. i covered my eyes.

Also keep in mind back then we had no internet or internet trailers or even info. We had crappy TVs with antenna ears and the daily newspaper.
Nothing was really on either until the week of and it was just out of context no idea what the fuck is this Star Wars shit on TV for 30 seconds between Andy Griffith, MASH and Gilligan's Island.

I remember watching a cartoon on PBS and a deer mom got killed that fucked me up as a kid , I was 5 or so. Bawled my eyes out asking why etc. Looking back I'm sure my mom/dad wanted to shoot me as if they needed that shit in their day.

2 movies scared me period, the original 'alien' watched it alone at night and the anticipation spooked the hell out of me. The other was the remake of 'the thing' with Kurt Russell , watched most of it with my eyes covered. Looking back the special effects do not hold up but at the time wow was it freaky.

We used to rent / watch 'scary' movies and pull for the bad guys. I'm still like that and it's part of why Empire is my favorite movie all time. Bad guys win and the bad guy is a bad ass motherfucker to boot. Oh and he's also your daddy.

Had no idea what star wars was when we went to see it. Only knew every time we went by that movie theater there was a line outside that wrapped around the building. Figured if it was that popular it had to be good.

Yup and while going to the movies was the big game in town, along with bowling, pool and skating rings it was rare to have lines THAT big.

AFAIK they got introduced in the Rebels cartoon. Like the Ashoka show mentions, they're basically space lifeforms that migrate and have the ability to travel via hyperspace

In the finale of the Rebels cartoon, Ezra was able to communicate with them using the force and got them to basically grab Thrawn's star destroyer and transport it away to save the Rebel Alliance.

Nothing says wholesome children's film like piles of dead jawas, the burning skeletal remains of your aunt and uncle, and amputing aliens arms with laser swords.

Nothing says cherry picking like this post

The KaRtOoNz are pretty good if you enjoy Star Wars lore, the whole story felt a lot more complete with Clone Wars and Rebels filling in a lot of gaps.

Hats are so wobbly. I don't know how to make them smooth without sitting there and adjusting it frame by frame but this isn't ILM and it's free.
