Hail, Jaled Dar's shade
Jaled Dar was the first ruler of the Ring of Scale, a faction of dragons that split from the Claws of Veeshan and went to explore the world, eventually settling on Kunark in what would become Veeshan's Peak. As inferior races began to evolve and gain influence, the dragons became concerned with the encroaching Iksar. Primitive Iksar tribes had been united into an empire that threatened to shift the balance of power on Kunark. Jaled Dar devised a plan for a coordinated attack upon the Iksar forces, leading the charge to take on Emperor Ganak himself. Astride his flying sokokar, a creature mixing draconic and amphibian traits created through foul Iksar magic, Ganak faced Jaled Dar in the sky. But Jaled Dar was betrayed; Trakanon, a young but ambitious dragon, had convinced several dragons that it would be a wiser to attack a powerful Iksar fleet while the bulk of the Iksar forces were drawn by Jaled Dar's attack, and so Jaled Dar never had the reinforcements he had anticipated. Jaled Dar and Ganak destroyed each other in the sky, their bones raining down on what would become the Field of Bone. Trakanon destroyed the fleet but was severely wounded in the process by necromantic magics and eventually fled to crash down into Sebilis, taking it over and forcing the remaining Iksar into an exodus. They would later settle in a new city named Cabilis, built close to the Field of Bone where their last emperor proved they could match the power of dragons. Jaled Dar's soul could never be at rest after this betrayal, and so his shade manifested in the Dragon Necropolis. His daughter Phara Dar now rules the Ring of Scale in Veeshan's Peak, while his betrayer Trakanon, still rotting and decaying from the evil spells inflicted upon him all those years ago, still haunts the lower levels of Old Sebilis.
