It's pretty simple. Between now and the end of the universe there's a trillion trillion trillion TRILLION years. There's more trillions in there depending on if you believe the big crunch or the heat death scenario.

If noone between now and the end of the universe EVER finds a way to send information back in time to alter causality, then sure things CAN be accidents.

BUT, if real time-travel is within the set of all possibilities, even something as small as information being sent backwards, then you'll have to follow the logic to the one conclusion: whatever discovers the means to alter the past will also realize that its self-preservation is threatened by alterations to the causal chain that created it----so it would everything in its power from the moment it conceived of the means until the end of time to preserve itself by pruning ALL OF TIME of any accidents that may cause to cease to exist.
