I wanted to try to get into sim racing at one point, but to do it right would probably cost 3k-$4k.
I'd hate to get all that invested and find out I didn't like it.
See if there's some place near you that has sims you can come in and drive for an hour or so. More and more of these are popping up.I wanted to try to get into sim racing at one point, but to do it right would probably cost 3k-$4k.

Well, I put the air cooler back on my 3080 (worst cooler of the EVGA line up for the poor thing) since I'm not able to get a 5090 at the moment. Fired up LMU and discovered 1) I don't know how to brake without ABS, and 2) flat spotted tires are miserable.
This is my biggest fear.I built this one more than 10 years ago, when Oculus first came out, thinking it would be fun to play space sims and driving sims. I have a separate flight stick platform that can be put in for flying games. Mostly it collects dust...

You can easily get 80% back from your purchase if you buy good stuff. Finding friends to race with is what keeps it going. This is my biggest fear.
I would like them for the driving / flight games, but worry I'd put it all together for about $3-$5k...and then it just collected dust.
I feel like it's such a niche market too, that it would be hard to get much of it back due to such a limited resell market.
