Yeah, I dunno. I like the premise of the show with sleeves and I like the cyberpunk vibe of anarcho-capitalism. The rising humanist dissent cult is predictable but can still be perfectly interesting. But if they just turn it into a soap opera then it's all for waste. Which is part of what made the back half of s1 seem to go so far off the rails... I think. I barely remember the show besides for thinking "that's a pretty good pulp story, that latina is hot, and the production value is impressive".

What I want from the show is a bit more esoteric than what a majority audience wants I guess. If you're gonna dabble in transhumanism then go balls deep. It'll make about as much sense as Primer did... but hell, go for it.

Once you read that ridiculous plot diagram for primer and parsed it out with their recursive loops, primer actually made a LOT of sense. IT was just doing homework for a movie. lol.

I'll probably end up watching it. Season 1 started out pretty good until they got to the sister heavy shit and went downhill real fast.

I'll probably watch it at some point as well, if for no other reason than I'm a sucker for the genre and setting. The way everyone was just so casually okay with constantly dying and being cloned rustled my jimmies something fierce while watching it though.

The sister bit was not awful. It was hackneyed cos she turned into the villain out of nowhere but a dozen other shows have done worse with the same trope for no reason. Also Sierra is hot.

Lizzie was the problem. Her pointless character seemed worthwhile during the ending until I saw this

Poe and The Raven was better than The Hendrix. The Quellcrist crap was cheesy. Altered Carbon was really good though. Better than Bird Box.

Based on what the showrunner said about expanding Quell, Lizzie and Reileen, which is fine, it may have been part of what hurt the latter episodes. Besides other book changes. Motivations are great and all provided that story comes first and motive is secondary. In other words don't fake or force shit.

There were cheesy bits throughout the season that became more pronounced the farther along it went.

i mean i'd care more if any of the characters in season 1 were good actors but they were all shit so adding new shitty actors is... whatever. I like the core idea of the show, swapping human bodies like sleeves, so I'll continue to watch.

Hopefully they have some new hot chicks who get super naked, although in this day and age I expect a lot of dong this season

I still can't believe they renewed for season 2 though honestly, it doesn't feel like a show anyone is watching or cares about.

It's got 15 pages of discussion here which is more than other shows with more seasons. Obviously not a good measure of the show's popularity, but The Good Place is an objectively better show and has the same number of pages with three more seasons. So there's something there generating interest.
