No Idea but it's a shame if beta doesnt come soon. The best opinion, of all the opinions Ive read, is belowCannot wait for NA release - Page 2 - ArcheAge Discussion - ArcheAge Source

"Trion is currently undergoing a 2-month observation period as a result of some restructuring that occurred at the end of August, which means the observation period will end at the end of October. If the higher-ups like the new direction of the company and no more restructuring is needed, I predict that Trion will have a completely playable version of ArcheAge, with the majority translated into English, by the end of December. I can't predict when the French or German translations will be done, and I can't predict when Trion will open a closed beta, but I think it's more than reasonable to say that they'll have something completely playable in English by the end of December (whether they decide to open it or not).

Many of us believe that Trion is mainly watching the reaction to the Chinese and Russian versions of the game right now before taking further action on their part."
To those observing Trion - Be sure to observe the market as well and be aware of the major MMO releases incoming

FYI, few updates on this game for those that are casually interested:

1. It won the President's award at G-Star 2013, which is basically "Best New MMO." It also won awards for its graphics and "Planning and Scenerios" which I am not sure what that means.
2. Since I last played in Korea, I understand that they updated the economy significantly, activated the actual seige warfare, and put in what is effectively steampunk go-cart races.
3. It is now free to play in Korea, so the barriers to entry from the U.S. are much less burdensome (although you can't own property or craft with a free account).

They also released a few videos over the last few months to show off some stuff that is coming out in 2014:

Finally, Scott Hartsman from Trion updated the community on the progress for U.S. beta.

For such a young game, ArcheAge has had a lot of excitement in its life. We all know that a company launching its first MMO is a truly massive event.

In shipping an MMO the difficulty ramps up and up as you open it up more - Then on launch day, you're 24/7, live, and people are giving you their hard earned money for your game. On the inside, it feels like it couldn't possibly be the case, but the work actually gets harder.

It's absolutely brutal on development teams even in the best case. Having gone through it multiple times myself, even if you've done it before, you forget exactly how stressful it is, how hard all hands will end up having to work, and how long they'll have to do it.

The whole time, you're dealing with launch tech issues, and gameplay systems that didn't turn out the way they did in alphas and betas, and trying to figure out the best solutions to everything.
The whole time you're doing this, things have stayed that difficult for months in your first launch, and you hope to get into a solid cadence of being live, so you can start supporting other efforts.

With three other locale partners (in China, Russia, and us in the West), XLGames didn't have that luxury of going immediately from the Korea launch into locale launch ramps for all three partners. Hell, immediately launching into full simultaneous support for three other partners would have been practically impossible when a game's launch goes flawlessly, and we know that the initial Korean launch faced many challenges of its own.

We've been in touch with them the whole time - The relative quiet has been for a couple reasons:

1) They needed time to sort out what's best for their game, so it can be the biggest success possible in ALL locales

2) It's important to us to not be the kind of publishing partner that applies undue ship pressure to force them to make bad decisions. That happens a lot in games. We're not that.

Their team's now confident that they've got a solid path planned out for improvements to ArcheAge, that will benefit all of their partners. We think they do too. Since they already have live customers, they're going to be addressing their plans for their existing live game very soon. The head of AA on their side is actually doing his first interview about this today as well.

That's the real trigger for us. We look forward to the coming weeks of reopening discussions with our communities about ArcheAge and its future here in the west.

Expect them (and us) to start talking about things like: How their updates are going to be bigger, more stable affairs. How they're ensuring that all gameplay systems are fun and rewarding, so people aren't funneled into playing one optimal way. And how they're making the game experience more approachable, while keeping a solid level of difficulty that maintains that tension we all feel as we're playing through a dangerous world, gaining power and becoming more successful as we go.
Both Trion and XL feel strongly that these are vital elements that all of our audiences want to experience, and that's the direction everything's headed.

Some of you have probably noticed that over the past few weeks we've kicked off a regular posting series on our existing games' sites of what's going on inside of Trion in all of our games -- I'm extremely happy to announce that as of this next set, we'll be adding ArcheAge to the mix that we'll be openly communicating with you about on a regular basis. Some updates are about the games themselves, others are about what's going on inside from groups you seldom hear about who are just as vital to shipping and running our games.

You can sign up for those updates as well as the beta athttp://www.archeagegame.com

And based on the size of this answer, I think we can consider this the first in that series.
I might head back over to the Korean servers to see how it's doing. Just wanted to give an update of what I've found.

Sorry, double post.

Actually, I'll turn it into the car video. Meh. Not my thing but something different at least:

Also, a boss fight that seems like a standard mmo fight, but is generally good for a korean MMO:

If I would see a dev post somewhere saying "targeted combat removed and replaced with action combat," my interest would increase dramatically.

Same. It's a stale game with a quest treadmill, uber grind at the end along with a boring tab target combat system.

Agree with all of that, but the "systems" in place for the game are unique and best in class, which keeps the interest somewhere above "don't care" for me.

Really interested in this game.. C'mon beta!

Scott began by telling me that he gets about one week of truly guilt-free game marathon time a year. ?No joke?? he said, ?I spent about 75% of my vacation time just playing ArcheAge. Not kidding, honestly.? And it?s like that across the company. They all knew what sort of game AA was when they decided to publish it in the West. They knew it was a huge, sprawling sandbox with an incredible amount of things to do. But what they didn?t realize was just how much that point would be driven home once translation was in place. The UI is now about 80% readable, and much of the quest text has been given at least a first pass at translation (with just a few here or there still in Korean). As with any translation, the first pass is a sort of a ?raw, make it English? pass, and now the focus is on refining it all and making it ring true.

they probably have to adjust some of the quasi-pedo disturbing shit that you see in a lot of asian games too (the little girl races wearing bikinis etc)

Translations to English/French/German/Spanish and then creating UI elements that hold all the different text lengths. You'd be surprised how much that takes.

I played ArcheAge in Korea and it didn't really need anything other than translations to be the same game in the U.S. There wasn't any pedo stuff and nothing that struck me as out of whack for the U.S.
