Its hard to tell if this game is worth a try or not since the main people i see posting are the ones who seem to play every single beta that comes around. No offense but is anyone playing and enjoying who has, i guess been absent from MMOs for a while and finds it enjoyable?

Just try it for yourself. Plenty of chances without having to pay.

I honestly can't tell you if I'm going to stick with it or not. I bought a founders pack, I haven't played much alpha/beta. Enough to mess around a bit but I have a hard time investing in characters that aren't permanent.

Anyway, the only thing I can say about the game for sure is that it is something different. That's the appeal to me. I tried Wildstar and as awesome as the crew from here that's playing it are, am just not interested in the same daily quest/port to dungeon/sit in town thing that I've already done in multiple games previously. This game is something else and to me there is some prospect there.

There is one thing I know this game will have in spades that I've been missing in MMOs for the past decade and that is drama. People are going to get extremely butt hurt over this game and every server is just going to be filled with tons of sweet, sweet emotional distress.

There will be rage-quitting. The /trial chat is amazingly lol. Farming is a great break from combat.

I do wish Trion had more control; having to beg XLGames for small changes is not good.

The only reason I'm just a little apprehensive about this is that I'm putting my faith in PRX for me to have a good time (and to accept us into their organization). I think this will be a massively fun game with a good, large group of people to play it with. Otherwise it's probably going to be terrible.

It will be like all games. Guilds can make a game really fun but you have to make your own fun too.

This one that seems amplified though. I mean, it seems like it will literally be impossible to do massive portions of the game without that support.

You would miss the castle aspect, but you can do the rest with no real issue if you are a smart player. Even a solo player could do the vast majority of the game.

Yeah, the content is set up such that everything but some of the PVE fights and the sieges can be accomplished solo.

But like most MMOs, it's just not that fun when the only thing to keep it interesting is the grind and game mechanics. Sure you can find a place to put a farm, leveling solo and grow/earn enough resources to build a home somewhere then equip it with bullshit and sit and jerk off into your poopsock. But finding an active family, working together and using eachother's specialties to craft items and sharing a small community is when the game really shines. And you can do this with yourself and a few friends, but you never know who is going to be playing for longer than a week. Being part of a larger community means you're guaranteed to have people to support you and play with throughout the lifetime of the game.

Plus if you need to do trade runs through dangerous areas good luck doing it without backup. I think one of the biggest things I look forward to in ArcheAge is protecting people in trade runs. The few I've gone on are fun. It's so rare these days to have an actual risk vs reward system instead of just time vs reward.

it is, you don't make money unless you own a farm wagon or a merchant ship, and don't give me that buy off the AH middle man shit, its fucking chump change to what you can make doing full runs of merchant ships and shit.

You can make very little cash grinding shit, or planting / farming and selling shit, you wont ever amount to anything though, taking advantage of certain AH items here n there help aswell, but the real money is merch ships, while loading them fast as fuck with a tractor.

Or inter-continental runs stealth for 20g a pack, or try to do them with more people 100x riskier though, but the reward for a full boat of fucking resources is ,motherfucking sweet.

It's kind of irritating when doing those dangerous trade runs that the attacker has nothing to lose. When trying to take a load from say, Halcyona, in peacetime, people will just climb onto your boat and wait for you to sail out of the safe area. Because, why not? If they win they get your load, if they lose, meh, ported to a shrine.

But, yeah, even being in a large active guild, banding together with other members and forming a family is extremely useful, no matter what you're doing.

Mostly when you pass through their safe zones eh! :p

Yeah that's one of the faults of the PvP system. The only time there is real risk is when you're carrying a tradepack. It'd be nice if you can sail on the open seas, get your shit stolen by 'Clan Kool' and then hunt them down, kill them and take their gold. Or find where they live, go there and stomp their petunias or whatever. But there's really nothing you can do. If they're part of a larger organization you can find their village and harass them, but it's such a nuisance and the death penalty is so light it's really no big deal.

What is going to happen when PRX dominates their server in PVP? Will there be any point or is just being able to move about freely unmolested a good enough reward?

How wrong you are. Sure you may start out small as your cash pool needs to work up but once you are running and if you dedicate yourself to doing it, you can become filthy rich just playing a AH. And its zero risk, because you sit in town.

If it ever got to that point for any guild, you would get both sides teaming together to take you out and make your life hell.

Is there a way to download the game before the next closed beta starts? I got the $50 silver Founders pack.

maybe well see how release is, economy in alpha is fucked, takes less to buy a stack of lumber then it does to buy 300 wood and convert it and throw it back up.

I don't see that happening. Sure its possible but with this game I see being big as more of a target. Its just too easy to avoid the zerg while still pissing people off big time in this game. This isn't like GW2 or TESO where a small group might take something and then it would get taken back by the zerg shortly after. This is a game where gorilla douche baggery is heavily rewarded and reprisal for such not so much.

Regardless if it ever got so lopsided there are a lot of way to stir up shit and find action. I doubt it ever gets to that but we'll see.
