anyone else just lift at home? i've been collecting stuff for close to 20 years now. the hard part is as you get stronger, new stuff is always more expensive. walmart has a great deal on big dumbbells right now

Said fuckit and will try working out ONLY at home for like six months. Setup will be...

Grabbed 450 lbs various weigths:

Barbell is...meh, but it's red!

And finally:

I already have 55lb adjustables for dumb bells.

Just need a wide lat bar and a couple bench press chains.

What's up bros. 40 year old boomer here. I been really slacking on my fitness (mainly diet/cardio) recently but trying to get myself rededicated. Anyone in this thread still lift?

Went in and did legs tonight

Has anyone used the power matrix before? I've always been a 12/10/8 guy, lower reps and higher weight haven't been something I've considered due to working out solo in my garage.

Last night for flat bench, I did the 305 section ,except I did 230 on the final set and went for 10 reps. 280 for singles felt very hard and not sure I'll be able to do 285s next week

Surprised you didn't go with a rack. You must have really pared down the weight you're lifting more than I thought, or you're pretty confident in your failures at this point.

The squat rack I wanted wouldn't fit height wise, nor space wise really. Bolting it to my floor evenly without some cement work would have been impossible to boot. Rest of my basement has very low piping so other parts of the basement are out.

What you see there is about 3k in equipment. That machine being more than a quarter of that alone. Plus Olympic plates are expensive as fuuuuck!

I snagged an elliptical also, it's still in the box there to the right of the dryer. Nowhere to put it since I chose a heavy bag instead. And a real preach should be here next week.

Overall I can get about 80% of my workout at home now with a little creativity.

Not that it matters since your issue is height, but when we built our gym in our old house, we put down horse stall mats. I drilled out holes slightly smaller than the bolts, and then bolted the rack into the mats. I think I may have also put some plywood under that section that was our lifting platform, and screwed the mats into that so it wouldn't move.

Any of you bros ever used a Pendulum Squat machine? The guy who runs this new gym I just joined is a gym machine collector and enthusiast. This place is wall to wall with all kinds of power lifting shit I've never heard of let alone seen and they have two of these pendulum squat machines.

I got in one for the first time today and holy fucking shit. I don't care how long you've been lifting or how yoked your legs are that thing will make you feel like a weak little bitch.

That's pretty standard at any decent gym now. It's my go to for legs.

First time ever seeing or using one. But that's true for a lot of the machines in this place. It's definitely making my workouts more interesting after ~20 years of mostly the same stuff.

Its a nice machine. I swapped over to that a few years ago as my main leg workout. I rarely do free squats any longer.

They have one at my gym, but I never tried it. Whats different about it than just doing squats in the rack?

Not sure how to explain it, you are essentially suspended in the air and it gets harder as you get closer to the top. And it makes it easier to get into a full deep squat with proper form.

Interesting, I will give it a try. Looked like a gimmick machine since we just do back squats, goblet squats and bulgarian splits, but hey I'm always up for trying something new if it has good reviews.

Goes without saying but just make sure you get in it before your wife. One of the machines here has a fairly weightless arm and isn't that crazy with no weight and the other one has a 225lb arm and is maniacal even with no plates.

Unless she's been annoying you lately, then maybe let her get in it first.
