I could really care less about the trannies or whatever, but why do they have to dress like morons? I think I've seen my 55+ year old aunt wear something similar and thought that it suited her, but for anyone else?

Look and gender choices aside... I'd be curious to know the percentage of gainfully-employed tax-payers versus those living in mom's basement collecting government assistance, while they play the same 30 year old game 18 hours a day every day. It doesn't look like any of them have seen the sun or a shower for the majority of their lives.

AGDQ sucks now even looking past all the SJW faggoteering.

The games they chose are old and boring, they chose bullshit like Hollow Knight that consists of people ACTIVELY FUCKING AVOIDING PLAYING THE GAME. Who wants to watch this shit? Everyone loves the Super Metroid and Mega Man X stuff because those games take a lot of skill and practice, but they still show all the great things about the game. Dark Souls was the same way up to the point in every game where they overpowered magic and fucking dominated the rest of the way. The Bloodborne run is fantastic. But aside from that, they queue up a shitload of games that nobody gives a fuck about and suck to watch.

Someone let me know if they ever get a good game line up again or if another org comes along that actually makes this fun again.

The Sonic Adventure 2 race and the Sonic Mania run were both a lot of fun and required a lot of skill without depending on cheesing bugs that let you skip most of the game.

There are many recent games featured. That being said, devising and optimizing the route for a speedrun is something that takes time, so the most optimized runs are naturally of older games. Also, most games have different categories, the most broken games usually having glitchless, warpless or 'no out of bound' categories. LiquidDeath LiquidDeath might prefer less 'broken' categories.

Personally, the thing that I find the most interesting in speedrunning is how the games break and how their inner workings offer possibilities for and/or restrictions to the runs, so I am always curious to discover a new game/category. That's what the GDQ are for really: a showcase. For repeated viewing though, a focus on skill (and on good music!) is needed and the tension that comes with running against previously made splits (something obviously totally absent from a GDQ... well, almost absent, because if you are very familiar with a run, you can see what tricks are being landed or not, etc).

I am not watching this year, GDQ is taking itself too seriously. They, like so many other 'industry' types, have forgotten that most people play, and watch, video games for fun. It is only a small selection, and many of the runners themselves, who take it 'that' seriously.

It isn't fun to watch anymore, it isn't about having fun watching video games with others who like video games.

It isn't about the games anymore, it's about the 'sport' and 'message'.

It's not fun.
