Old CRPGs were great for their time but nothing comes close to BG3. The amount of talent in writing and voice acting alone blows everything else ever made away. And the modern gameplay just can't be matched.

I'd say it's the second best computer game of all time. Only behind Elden Ring. Which is a complete masterpiece. Artwork, story, and the most amazing combat system ever.

You will want to play BG3 multiple times just to experience the different character arcs and quest lines.

You will want to play ER multiple times just to try out different weapon combinations and to revisit the gorgeous world. The lands between are simply amazing and unmatched.
I can already tell it will be on my top list of games of all time. The number 1 spot is elden ring, and I even got a couple elden ring tattoos, but this might be #2. I definitely am interested in playing through again, and solo. Playing with my wife is great but she is definitely playing a much nicer person than I would, and I chose early on to let her be the face of the party. I usually only step in if my bard can offer some alternative/benefit to dialog.

We're playing on PS5 and its actually really well done, bugs aside (we've had a lot). Controller feels good in this.

I got the crpg itch bad so I started pathfinder wrath of the righteous on the side.

The thing about abjuration wizard is you are 1 lvl of sorcerer, 1 of cleric, and the rest wizard. You ge lots of class specific conversation options. The downside is everyone in my party could wear heavy armor meaning some competition, not that they were all wearing heavy but they could.

It's not really game breaking, but armor of agathys when you rained on them, have duelist perogative weapon, electrify the ground/wet sometimes enemies will pass their turn for some reason. I guess they can't come to a conclusion knowing if they hit you they will die.

Unless you are playing with Mods, I found the game to be pretty generous with useful heavy armor, assuming you get the two potential sets of Adamantium Scale Mail from the Duergar area. Medium armor is mostly meh outside of the two suits that have uncapped dex. The light and cloth is where it sucked. One set of +2 Bracers in the entire game and barely any rings of protection meant relying mostly on Dex (and the couple of +1 shields if not a Monk with high Wis/Dex) to get a good AC. The cloth armor with Cats Grace is fantastic and the + spell DC robe in the magic shop are great, but the rest are just shit when it comes to cloth/unarmored. They just do not compare to the heavy armors (and helmet) that prevent crits, especially later on when the computer cheats its ass off on die rolls and crits you left right and center. The game needs more AC bonus items for cloth and light armor users, because you just get shit on with all the special arrow spamming archers in harder difficulties.

But as for heavy armor, the Adamant Scale Mail is good enough to wear end game especially combined with Heavy Armor mastery (shaving off 5 damage on all non magical attacks and being immune to crits is massive) for tankiness. The Act 2 Boss armor is not too shabby either. Once in the city all the good shields start appearing (combine with the Trident from the circus efreeti for good damage) and a number of strong heavy armors drop in there. And by then most of the top end medium armor is on par with a lot of plate armor, minus the crit immunity and damage reduction.

Also fuck honor mode, the game is just too buggy to end up spending hours into it and then have some random bug get you stuck, like the Cazador Coffin looping or bugged spawning in the Shar Trials section. Until Larian stops being Larian, they should just limit it to one save per hour. It only takes one play 20 hours deep only to end because the dialog is stuck to make someone walk away from a game.

Can't you 3 man it and always leave someone at camp? It's been a while since I did my honor run but I think that's an option so you can't lose.

Solo honor run you could really do the same thing just have one companion and leave them in camp. I don't think you get a separate achievement for never recruiting anyone else.

Well I prefer to play non exploitive, like I dont constantly pick pocket or do "barrelmancer" crap or other borderline abusive shit. Tactician with some self restraint is my happy zone with the game, aside from a couple overtuned fights. And if I run mods I use the tactician one to ramp things up a bit more to keep it balanced. But its your game, play however you like. If you have to do mechanical bullshit like three man or stack 100 barrels to win fights, I will take a pass. But its all irrelevant because what ruins most honor runs (aside from that House of Hope boss fight and the undead dragon) are bugs that render the game stuck, mostly in dialog loops or scripted action that just fails. That can derail anyone and Larian is notorious for it, which is one of their few failings.

There are some people who solo challange run honor mode with all kind of restrictions. Like no resting unless mandated like when you end an act, pscic damage only all kinds of goofy shit. Of course they have thousands and thousands of hours in the game and will know every location for a perception check and the DC for all the ability checks. I watched one once just to see how goofy it was. Lightyears beyond me. The one I did get a chuckle out of was playing Karlack with no rest and used rotten food which poisons and can trigger rage and that's what he used. Stand around eating rotten food hoping you raged.

My last honor run I had 3 characters. My honor run until it ended was off and on. I'd play till I got into a corner or my stumped and take time off and do something else like play a tactician one and change builds often. I'm also somewhat lazy. I played a gloom stalker ranger straight through, fire resist, cold resist, and heavy armor because I was too lazy to respec though I only used a heavy armor helmet.

Watched a vide on the new subclasses coming out. I guess it depends on play style. A lot looked "meh" to me. The only two that looked interesting to me was the giant barbarian and maybe circle of stars druid. Having said that by next week one I thought was meh at best will be the new killer sub and most played most likely.

Giant barbarian seems pointless, since you already have Berserker thrower builds which are already OP as hell.

I think my next playthrough will be a Hexadin.

Yeah I got the patch. Thought it would have been larger than 2.8 GB but I don't know anything so. Maybe that was just notes or something else.

Edit - nevermind apparently there is more to it that I haven't been able to get yet.

When you succeed a Perception check, the spotted item will now ping on the minimap and be listed in the combat log.

Wooo hoo, hated this.
Fixed characters getting stuck when pathfinding via a ladder that's already in use by another companion.

Subclasses don't sound super interesting so I'll stay with my sword bard. But maybe on alternative playthrough ill play one of the new ones.

I'm 6 bard/2 fighter and the amount of attacks I have is comical.

Just starting and on the nautiloid my camera zoom and pan seems to work better/smoother and further out.

The spellbook kind of goes on and on and on now with all spells, attacks, reactions, lithid powers and whatever else. It's like scrolll through city. I'll have to play around with it to find the improvment, not seeing it so far and just getting to being able to change a spell is kind of scroll city. I'm probably doing it wrong but the list goes on forever and you never get a separate icon list of spells you have ready to cast, but instead all of them are listed and you can get an outline of the ones you can cast now like when it shows you what spells you already have when you level. I must be missing something.

I hope by last patch they mean last content patch because there are a number of bugs that were introduced, hopefully they patch that stuff eventually.
