yea thats what i'm doing, no spoilers or video i'm just letting GRRRRRRRRRR go hamIt's only 100g anyways. I prefer picking shit willy nilly first playthrough though.
We just hit moonrise and feels like we're towards the end of act2. We feel ridiculously overpowered too.
That's true and also to be fair I've played DND and pathfinder and have a decent idea, though it's been yearsPicking things willy nilly and going your own way is one thing, but stumbling into perhaps the best way to totally gimp yourself is another.
In both the DnD and Pathfinder games, of all time periods, pure classes are viable in all content outside of maybe the hardest difficulty(s), which is made specifically for minmaxers. The old DnD games didn't even have those difficulties nor were they programed with that type of play in mind.
The easiest minimalist recommendation for anyone new to these types of games is to just pick a class and go with it. Multiclassing, in the video game side, has always been for advanced players. I'm sure on the PnP side a DM can tailor the fights to whatever power level he feels the players have made their party into, but that just wasn't possible in video games. The solution in modern games was to make story mode, but that just makes everything faceroll difficulty to accommodate the lowest ability players.
A full party of pure classes should be able to beat the hardest difficulty in this game, if optimized correctly, so a willy nilly pure class shouldn't have any issues on normal.
I decided to start this and it is a fun game. Feels way more like Divinty than a BG game, but so far I am enjoying it. Companions choice are a bit enough though. The Githyanki is fine, Gale is fun and Shadowheart is kind of tropey. I stabbed the vampire when he wanted to suck my blood. The black guy I just ignored because he was annoying when he introduced himself. Are there more companions soon? Second playthrough will be a bit dull if not.
Class choices I decided to not min max at all. I multi class all over the place, but since I am on normal difficulty I don't really care.
I hope this will replace my BG1/2 rotation I tend to do every now and then.
That's the party I went with on first playthrough too (killed the vampire as well). There is one more companion that you can find at any time in chapter 1, which you will eventually run into (the other is at the end of the chapter). How soon depends on which way you explore. Small hint: The companion is not in the Gobo or Druid areas. More specific location hint: Sitting across a stream near a building with Paladins and a vendor.I decided to start this and it is a fun game. , you get an option for him to be your companion very eary in act one, and then he goes on and on about all background. Where as other companions you get over time now all at once.
The companions in BG3 having such an abundance of personality is a big part of what sets the game apart imo. Have you played the Owlcat games?I decided to start this and it is a fun game. Minthara was a more like a "hidden" companion on release, where you needed to be evil and side with her, basically killing all the "good" people. I think you even lost 3 party members, just so you could get her. She was the least finished and had the lowest amount of dialog. One of the patches changed things up a bit, and may have made her a bit easier to recruit, but with a party size of 4, missing some potential party members hardly matters (I actually like that aspect of the game, such as refusing to help Wyll can cause his death).I think I killed minthara? Didn't even know you could recruit her.
My wife and I style seems to be homicide. Except in act 2 in the trials of shar. The big red dude and all his minions... I convinced them all to kill themselves, even him. Kinda sucked because I only got 75xp but the dialog.was great.
As I've said before, Astarion has the best story arc in the game.I stabbed the vampire when he wanted to suck my blood.

Ah, but romance Gale and you get to become a god.Since our playthrough is coop we only have two companions. I do love shadow hearts story. Gales sucks.
I'd definitely want a different party on subsequent playthrough.
