This is aimed more at people that grew up with Barbie and not kids.
Having just seen it, I think the target audience is 2 groups, anyone like 35 to 45, who will see specific parts of themselves in the barbies and kens and get all of the meta humor, and like 10 to 15 year old girls, who Mattel very much wants to reclaim Barbie as a "girls can do anything" icon back from "Barbie Girl, plastic and fantastic" by Aqua.
Ryan Gosling is an absolute scene stealer, maybe even movie stealer.
Anyone who has ever used the term "woke" unironically may have their head explode from all the girl power moments and speeches, but you chose to see a Barbie movie, so you brought it on yourself.
Otherwise, I thought it was hilarious, one of my favorites of the year, up there with SpiderVerse and Mission Impossible, and that was the general consensus of every one I saw it with.
And if you do want to see it, my showing was like a marvel premier, only with more pink and sparkles, theater was packed.
