Pretending that the majority of players know shit about history is.. Fuck man.. Half of y'all probably couldn't name a single country in Europe when you were in high school let alone have a grasp of the depth and breadth of European/world history.

Being "sold on history", does not mean "being sold on accuracy of historical elements in the game". Its kind of like how a movie has to be true to its internal logic to maintain a sense of realism, it doesn't need to be true to real world logic.

If you come close enough to backdrop of these settings for the majority of the players, and avoid jarring things that will break their immersion? That's selling history. For some people who know more, of course the smaller details will hit that threshold of 'jarring'. For MOST people, as you said, that threshold is pretty god damn extreme. It has to be really ridiculous to have people who only know what they saw in Saving Private Ryan and the History Channel, to go "what the fuck, that doesn't look like X or Y documentary/movie/famous picture!"

That's what "selling history" means here. Is someone who fell asleep watching the History Channels "top ten Nazi Super Weapons" or "The Russian Front, IN COLOR!" going to match the few things he remembers and not see anything completely jarring? If yes, then your game can be dubbed "more historical". If however you black female Nazis, or bionic armed women, even that scholar of the history channel is going to go "what the fuck?"

preload seems to have gone live today, i can preload on PC by running origin, going to store, clicking BF5, then the Try It Now icon and it starts a 12 gig download. I did register a beta code a few weeks/months ago so not sure if its open to everyone or just people with codes

looking forward to see this shit show in a few hours / tomorrow

r/Battlefield - No need to pre-order for Early Access BFV Beta. Just got my PC code free.

on my "default" company of 4 classes, 2 are women including a black female assault class and an asian female sniper. I never knew WW2 was so diverse. Change appearance is greyed out too, thanks DICE. Actually the black female may be a guy, I honestly can't tell.

I wonder if Hitler will be a tranny.

i played 2 games of conquest and am pretty much ready to uninstall. The maps are huge and pretty and a lot of alleys and multi levels but it just doesn't quite feel right, and the game doesn't feel like battlefield anymore. Spotting seems to be GONE. That, to me, was a cornerstone of battiefield. Spot enemies so your teammates know about the fucker who corner camps flags. Throwing out ammo and med packs seems to be a lot harder now for some bizarre reason. Games in battlefield have always gone on long but for some reason they REALLY dragged here, the maps are maybe a bit too huge since 50% of the time I was just running from spot to spot never seeing an enemy.

The game feels a lot more like pubg than battlefield, and I don't know why they went that way.

Definitely an easy skip for me, I was planning on maybe doing a 1 month EA Origin trial to play at launch but its not even worth $10 right now. maybe if they beta their battle royale mode and its simple and fun but so far everything feels wrong so I don't see how they would get that mode right.

I don't mind the spotting being gone since it was to easy to spam. Not seeing people to shoot isn't a good sign.

you can spot but you have to load up into a specific role and break out binoculars, so its not out of the game completely but just not as easy as before. considering 90% of teams I played with never spotted i'm not sure why they made it even more obscure

Spotting spam is why I always played hardcore servers, so it being nerfed in BFV is a point in favor of the game IMO.

Just going through the customization screens and other things, it appears fuck balance etc for the delay, I'd say despite stealing much of bf 1 art assets etc, they frankly are far from done. (random example, go into tank screens, each shows a prefered target or whatever, except the heavy gun churchill is missing much of that screen, and the dogfighter also shows preferred target as tanks)

Lol under gameplay, a share usage data yes/no with EA and claim of disabling may result in loss of functionality?

PC has an option for aim assist with both snap to and weapon aiming slowdown while over target.

Also aim lead indicator if you have high ping and where to lead targets if lagging?
