Any extra advice for salvaging a whole mech. Initially i was trying to double leg. I need to revisit now that i have called shot 2, but early what usually would happen is side/center torso would blow from misses before the legs (especially hitting ammo)

So Lately I've been trying like mass missile knockdown + killing a side torso, that's 2 wounds, Usually then reknockdown via a leg kill or blowing another side for 3 wounds, but by that point pretty good chance of CT popping even on heavier mechs.

I might try a machine gun boat because Ive noticed a lot of head hits with small weapons, meanwhile LRM40 with 16% chance to called shot to head and I havnt gotten shit for hits ever.

Hate when enemy sometimes has 5 wounds, I've had double knockdowns, a side, and an ammo explosion and they still up.

I've started learning to seek ie actually avoid ammo sometimes due toit blowing the rest ofthe mech.

Also noticed it does tell you theythe enemy has + weapons so tryingtop avoid blowing them up.

Just had the best reinforcements bug yet. Got a message from Oliveria on turn two to watch out for them and I see them right away. I have two objectives at this time, kill enemy units and reinforcements. I kill off the reinforcements, the kill enemy units objective goes away, mission success. All I ever killed was the reinforcements, never took out the original main objective but I got 100% pay out.

This is a fun game. Really looking forward to them putting some work into this given how popular it got. Just needs a few tweeks to be one of the greats.

Yeah I havent played a game non-stop like this in a long time. My favorite title to come out in the past couple years. I will agree however, it needs some polish and a bit of other love to be truly great.

My biggest peeve is seeing a 75ton on radar hoping for a madcat. Curse you early timeline. Looking forward to hopefully content rich dlcs of full campaigns or away least mechs and single maps from late.

If you know about Madcats then you know how truly limited the mech lineup is in this game so far. I think they started with such a limited lineup and in 3025 for a reason, so that subsequent expansions/DLCs (it is Paradox after all) can introduce all the goodies like Madcats like you're hoping. The potential is pretty big here as the lore is so well established and fleshed out already.

Tactics 9 gives a 17/18% chance to hit the head, hell yeah. 3 salvage from a nice mech is sooo nice.

With everything data wise in JSON format, it seems ripe for modding, since it can't be steam workshop mods, it will pop up on nexus I bet or something.

Not to beat a dead horse, but you mentioned earlier that the devs are listening to feedback and people’s experiences. Combine that with the comment about “reinforcements” working somewhat as intended.

Is there a chance that HBS will look at the many reactions from the community about the reinforcements and make a change to their behavior? I may be wrong but it seems like most people believed that the system had to have been bugged, that alone says a lot.

Any thoughts?

Have you considered/is it possible to have a mode that allows larger lance sizes (though perhaps capped to avoid absurd swarms), but coupled with tonnage restrictions? I just feel a bit bad leaving behind my Jenner after all its hard work early on....

I'm gonna copy and paste an answer from further down the line, re: lights:

There are two value propositions I would like to make: 1) Lights and Mediums should remain useful in late game. 2) Lights and Mediums should not be as valuable as heavies and assaults, all factors being equal.

So yes, I do have plans for some encounter types I'm prototyping that will strongly encourage light and medium use in the late game. I don't know when you'll get to see them (note I did not say "if", cuz you're gonna) just cuz they're time-consuming to test, vet, and ensure fun with.

But yes, I am personally working on that problem.

As to the second thing: no, there's no plans to have the player control more than one lance at this time. Tonnage restrictions, maybe, but I personally am against that in favor of in-mission narrative reasons to bring lighter mechs.

Came within spitting distance of full salvage on a cataphract, but i got too overzealous taking out the last leg and it overkilled into one of the side torsos. So now I've got two cataphract pieces that will rot for god knows how long until I run into another one lol

Taking out both legs will always give you two salvage, whether you take out the side torso or not.

Oh. Well I feel slightly better then. Kinda funny how rustled I was about missing out on that Dragon salvage the other day when I've gotten to the point where I can just buy them, which should be all the info I need to know they suck.

Yup, but I have become very adept at cause enough stability damage to knockdown( 1st pilot damage), called shot to one arm bleeding into side torso destroyed (2nd damage), wait for them to get up, leg shot knockdown (3rd fall damage), called shot other arm bleeding into torso (4th damage). So far that has given me all 3 parts of each mech I've done this on. I've yet to run into a pilot with 5 hp, but if that happens, I'll just have to hope for an ammo explosion that doesn't CT crit for the 5th or a lucky headshot.

Lol, all the 'carriers' are just rape. I learned very early in missions with a mix of vehicle and mech targets that ignoring the mechs and stomping on the vehicles is almost always the right choice. The SRM carriers have like 10 SRM kits on them, the PPC carriers have 3? ppcs on them and the LRM carriers have got to be packing 40+ LRMs. The rest of the vehicles are manageable, but those carriers will unmake an entire lance damn near instantly
