it can be played in 2 ways,
one male lead being female at night, "reveling in her "power" as a woman but being as strong as a man due to actually being born male.
other is female lead being male during the day, but to prevent people tracking "him" down, being batwoman at night to toss off the researchers.
and as batwoman having "boosters" in the suit(ie a power suit of sorts) to explain why a "girl" can toss people around like candy.
