Yeah I like to occasionally post on the gaming section and it's nice because the people there are actually engaging and aren't total fanboys with hostile attitude problems. Politics discussions are better than they ever were on the misc as well, none of those awful trolls who just post crazy bullshit constantly. If anything the mega-thread format seems to work well here due to the community size and it keeps topics going.

Yeahhh I couldn't really vibe with the mega threads in every section. I appreciate a well run forum but I am drawn to the randomness of clicking a thread and not knowing if it's trash or not

Misc was dying for years, and it was officially dead as soon as the forum shut down. Newmisc had the potential to be a good forum (by aggressively banning all the freaks and trolls, like this forum does), but it didn't take that direction. There are many higher quality posters that would have stuck around probably.

That's the thing, a lot of the threads do go off topic for awhile and eventually come back around. To be honest I'm totally fine not having the same topic posted in multiple places.

Very true. Most people looking for a forum that isn't reddit now a days are probably normal/conservative people looking to get away from all the crazies on the left and people whose online presence revolves around trolling. Allow those people to have a presence and don't be surprised when hardly anyone shows up. Allow low quality behavior, you get a low quality community.
