I've patched my roof before, is it so big an area that a patch won't do? I just opened up a 2x2 square by carefully removing the shingles, cut out the damaged decking, replaced it, added ice and water shield well above the cut, and carefully put shingles in. It's not hard if the hole isn't three feet across.
