Ending made me tear up a bit - and I'm rarely one to cry - did hit me on a personal level though although that will likely be confusing without spoiler required explaining.

And I had some inklings even from prerelease myself since I thought the start in a lighthouse again was odd...

I updated the driver to the beta, same deal. It's kind of wrecking the experience for me :/ some of the signs that have text are basically unreadable unless I move to specific angles and wait for them to pop in.
I haven't updated past 12.11, honestly I've read about issues with every update past that one. These seem to work perfectly fine for me after having issues with several other versions.

Well I can't hold in the why hopefully tags work with my mobile.

I had to (genetics in my case) give up on the idea of children, which made the concept harsh to me. Especially since the stunted pinky is something that's part of my genetics. Plus the whole semi suicide to repair the damage done thing is something that's crossed my mind far too many times over things like having to opt out of kids with the wife.

And then the whole slave to destiny element that I always seem to feel...

Apologies in advance to anyone if the tags don't work with my mobile.

I gasped when the Songbird was drowning because I instantly knew we were in Rapture. Just like one Fink brother had taken music from the 1980s from a tear, the other had been snooping on a biologist in Rapture (presumably Tenebaum) and thus created the vigors...lord only knows what Fink used instead of ADAM though. I had an inkling that Booker was Comstock for quite a while due to the prevalence of Baptism in the story, but it was still a powerful ending.

I'm still trying to logic out the whole timeline of events. Given that Booker and Comstock are not the same age in 1912 there must be some time travel taking place. Wounded Knee is in 1890 and Booker goes to get baptised and cleanse himself of his old life sometime after that. Columbia launches in 1893 so there just doesnt seem to be enough time for Comstock to have found Lutece and organized the construction of Columbia in three years. We also have Comstock's ability to predict the future as the Prophet well before any other dimensional shennanigans take place so it seems clear that at some point in the future Comstock finds a way to travel back to the past and use his knowledge to influence others and get Columbia built. Not too mention there is also the issue of Booker having a daughter that can warp reality...

There is more to the story of Booker/Comstock. Maybe the DLC will go into that

Just beat it on 1999. The last part didn't give me half as many problems as certain other parts:
ANY of the handyman segments, Lady Comstock, and the theater when you are trying to rescue the chinese gun maker).

The ending was heavily telegraphed, but as stated above, the execution with everything was so well done, it really didn't matter. I didn't think that, after such an epic buildup, it would be possible to meet my super inflated expectations (Dark Knight Rises, anyone?). I (very poorly) summarized the moments of the game to my wife and had her watch the ending with me. She was impressed too, despite not actually playing the game.

I couldn't agree more about the pacing, but outside of broadcasting to the player "THERE'S NOTHING LEFT TO FIND IN THIS ROOM" during those segments where you want the player to move with a purpose, well, it's pretty much an impossible task to make exploration of the environment interesting and worthwhile AND try to convey urgency with certain tasks. I'm buying the packaged 3 DLC thing now too.

Edit: As a budding designer, I appreciated a lot of other elements in the game that I haven't seen mentioned here:

1) Hidden "tutorial" in the first moments of entering Columbia
2) Not taking control away from the player, but barring their way with other events that feel more natural than an invisible wall
3) Even during times when Booker is incapacitated or immobile, the player can still control the camera (albeit restricted to varying degrees)
4) No cinematics. Ever.
5) It isn't always one long hallway. Yes, for the most part it is, but there is definitely an optimal path, and a path for people who want more of the game.
6) Forcing the player to make choices while keeping those choices interesting. For example, limit of carrying 2 guns at any given time, rarely enough ammo to use both ALL of the time, and not enough currency to upgrade all guns (or elixirs for that matter). The "gear" system is another great example of this.

I started a 1999 run and in the second playthrough I noticed something. Booker may have been through this exact scenario about 105 times before. In the beginning remember when the Lutece pair asked Booker to flip a coin? On the front side it had 14 or so heads and zero tails, you flip the coin and it is heads and they said something to the point of "Welp... maybe next time". When the male Lutece turns around and walks away, you see the back of that scoreboard and it is all filled out with about 700 heads marked and zero tails again. It makes me wonder how much of the plot revolves around self sacrifice and the Luteces kept bringing him back to see if Booker would ever change his final decision in the ending when he decides to go back and kill Comstock as a baby for his Daughter. It was kind of confusing at the end, but the entire thing seems like one huge elaborate experiment by the Luteces that has been conducted over and over again with slight variances. Remember when he received the telegraph not to get 77? Almost like a warning, but Booker never heeded it.

In regard to the spoilers above, I think (hope?) some of what you mentioned will be sorted out via DLC. They say "More Stories, More Weapons, More Characters. Extend the narrative and adventure with the BioShock Infinite Season Pass."

Yeah, they've done this dozens of times trying to get it right. It's an experiment inasmuch as they are still trying to figure out how to shepherd Booker through to erasing the Comstock branch in his life, with the help of Elizabeth of course. Countless timelines in countless worlds. BioShock, infinite.

Who do you think the Arch Angel is? I would say that he made it up but he mentions her specifically at the end to Booker and Elizabeth as though she was a separate, yet-to-be-revealed character

Ok, so this is just my understanding: Comstock attaches religious names to things because that's his shtick. His ability to prophecy comes from looking through the tears in reality, courtesy of Lutece, who is an accomplished physicist. So there is no Archangel Columbia. It's all a sham to get people to buy into his Prophet act.

And there is just one Madam Lutece at first. The second Lutece enters the picture (this one male) from another tear, or dimension, or whatever. That's all a little unclear to me and I'm not precisely sure how or when he arrives. Perhaps he uses Booker's daughter to barter his way onto heaven on earth? Later, Comstock attempts to kill both of them because they know the truth about, well, everything... which I imagine set this whole thing in motion.

Layers upon layers.

Here, I wrote something without spoiling anything at all.

One of the most wonderful things about Bioshock Infinite is how the character Elizabeth was almost like a character straight out of a pixar movie, or a classic disney animation. I fell in love with her, honestly. There's so much in the game where it does feel almost movie-like with her, and not just another NPC in a game. She was a character with thoughts and feelings and she would react to things like violence or flowers in the most life-like way I've seen in a game yet.

Seriously the whole game is just beautiful, I haven't had a sense of exploration and excitement with a perfect mixture of intense fights with downtime showing off breathtaking scenery since.. Half-Life 2. Every little thing you pick up as well like voxophones tell you small details of the city of Columbia and the characters, you really begin to grow an attachment to the places you're at or the people you've heard about with every new tidbit of info you gain.

If you play this game, do yourself a favor and turn off the mission arrows and just enjoy your time exploring. It's not a game to be rushed through, but a game that you have to truly experience. Take your time, look around, check out all the posters and pick up every weird-looking thing you can and I guarantee you will be completely immersed and want to play again.

10/10 from me, personally.

...now I am going to play it in 1999 mode. awwww yis.

Holy shit, I'm like 2 minutes in on my second playthrough and it's very subtle but it's kind of blowing my mind right now.

super spoilers

It's literally giving you the end of the game in the very beginning of the game. I hope that I find more shit like this throughout.

Also, wow! You never find out who the man is that's dead in the lighthouse either, and it is my theory that it is actually Booker from another world, that maybe.. you have killed. As a warning to yourself.
The reason I say this, is if you look on the lighthouse right after that sign I posted a screenshot of, it is clearly blood from his right hand, as you even see the handprint. The same hand that you get stabbed in while playing.

Of course this is just theory, but that honestly had me wondering early in the game who that person is. Mind = blown ...however, the only problem is that if you get near his hands, there is no bandage. But that's not to say that it couldn't be him from another world and this clearly isn't the first time you've been there.

Stealing your quotes for tags due to phone, anyways they explain the age difference in one of the audio logs, she ponders why in some realities his diesease ages him, she doesn't have it figured out completely but from what I gather it is due to they whole multi-reality travel. The man that gives up the girl and goes through the portal ages, the man that tries to stop him does not.
