I actually liked tank girl though, heh.

They really missed a huge opportunity in not making this movie Harley Quinn VS Birds of Prey. Shoulda been about a couple of chicks getting shit on in life, like the movie basically does, and Harley tries to lead them but goes way too far in violence and cop killing so they end up lining up against each other with all the psychos on Harley's side.

Instead they pussied out and had a straight white man be the villain, SAD!

thats one option. yes, Harley does not work alone well. And introducing all these new characters, as shell's of themselves was a TERRIBLE idea. As is, it could have worked with Canary, Huntress being fully fledged "heroes" and vigilantes, acting as straight men to Harleys horseshit. We've seen that work with powergirl, Wonder woman, zatanna, etc. Heck even when Gothem city Sirens, and Catwoman and Ivy. which of course just leads into, why the fuck was it not Sirens? with catwoman and Ivy?

Who is Harley?
Harley is a manic pixie ---- girl. Shes entitled, immature, selfish, oh so random and quirky, and lashes out violently when she doesn't get her way. Co-dependent with the Joker. The mind break was directly related to Harley repressing herself, and him getting her to let go and do whatever she wants when she wants.
Redpill here is of course, thats the female power fantasy. do whatever I want with no repercussions.
She is of course, basically insufferable, in canon. The current depiction is a fairly reasonable move forward. as she is more rudderless without the joker.

She then absolutely works best off a cast, or straight man. As she alone is just super annoying usually.

We can make some observations here about scott pilgrim and ramona. the entire 5 year run of them, being total shitheads, and eventually growing up a bit, and realizing they were. and that is kindof were we are in the comics. Harley trying to grow up. Trying to be an anti-hero/hero.

Ya, Gotham City Sirens would have been perfect. Reasons I can think of they didn't go with it:

1) Treads on the shoes of Suicide Squad - bad guy squad that does some good/anti-hero stuff. With the 2nd Suicide Squad movie in the works, would have come across as to similar and that could have hurt either of the movies from a financials perspective
2) Poison Ivy and Catwoman are major roles in the Batman mythos, which means the studio would have wanted big/recognizable/up-and-coming names to play them and lock them down to multiple picture deals due to the bleed over. Black Canary and Huntress are major DC characters, but less major in the eyes of the general public, so they had a bit more flexibility there in terms of using them/who they cast for them. Plus I believe Catwoman is playing a role in the next Batman film, so that hamstrung them in terms of casting as well.
3) They thought this was going to do better and were saving that angle for the sequel

wonder how many movies this killed, was looking at a list of DC stuff in the idea/screenplay/being developed area.

What the fuck is wrong with DC?

They should be working on sequels to their core IPs, Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman/Flash/Green Lantern then bringing it all together for another Justice League movie. They can add in one or two "new" IPs (things the casual audience doesn't know about, like Guardians of the Galaxy) into the mix sure, but not ONLY be working on new IPs.

Their main task right now should be unfucking the Superman and Batman IPs. You got a recast Batman, two Jokers and whatever is happening with Suicide Squad/Harley Quinn to explain.

absolutely not. going back to the wheelhouse of superman/batman, over and over and over is a large part of what got DC/warner here in the first place.
"unknown" properties have a huge advantage of no expectations. They should be doing that and just making good movies.. the problem is they aren't making good fucking movies. They keep making shitty blockbusters.

Marvel didnt build their movie house on the back bone of their core Ip. They SOLD That off to Sony, and Fox. xmen, Wolverine, Spiderman, Fantastic Four.
They build it off shit mainstream never heard of.

think DC biggest fault was not capitalizing on their cartoons. bet even green lantern would had been a hit with john stewart, would certainly had better reviews.
i grew up a huge DC fan, but they make some of the worse woke choices and deserve failure

People knew who they were, but they weren't remotely as successful as Xmen and Spiderman, not even close.

that Midnight's Edge video i linked, it explains the theory on how all this happened. the guy at DC wasnt sure Joker was going to shit the bed, so he greenlit that and Harley Quinn at the same time. Harley Quinn because they didnt have a new batman cast yet and Superman is still up in the air and Harley is(was) hot right now. Leto and batfleck are gone so they couldnt appear in this film. just a bunch of mistakes they never should have made. but its DC so mistakes are their business. i'm entirely sure Joker was one of them. it just turned out to be a huge hit.

Yeah, I would almost rather see movies of their secondary characters. I'd love to see a Booster Gold movie.

Since they seem to be ok with R ratings just give us Lobo already.

With the Rock Black Adam movie in the near future it seems like Shazam mythos will be their way forward, everything the rock touches is gold these days.

I didn't know who Iron Man was and I thought Captain America was fucking stupid, so I didn't go see those movies.

Saw them a few years later on TV and they are some of my favourite superhero movies now.
