Uniswap + Aave are a great way to go bankless and cut out your 401k/Roth IRA/Stonks. Uniswap returns can be pretty massive with a little bit of research, the DAI/USDC pool was getting me 37% apy when I was in it.

37% APY?

WTF. Why even leave that pool? That's insane.

Meanwhile I'm over here with a small amount of money in USDC on Blockfi getting 9% APR

how is proof of stake going to work when liquidity pools, and such shit all over the returns? who is going to be staking?

The total value locked within DeFi will always massively dwarf the value locked in staking, and that's fine. Staking has a much more sustainable interest rate tied to it because of the underlying mechanics -- DeFi protocols which allow you to get more interest on single asset ETH than staking will be briefly available with a bit of luck and research, though short lived.

AAVE is dead for those returns best you are going to see if probably 2.5% now.
I don't think it's quite that bad...

The way I see it... AAVE single sided vaulting has the safety of avoiding impermanent loss, at the cost of aggressive yields. Of course, compare this to ANYTHING you can get with cash at a traditional bank and chuckle....

As James James said, if you're looking to maximize yields on Defi platforms you're still at a point where you're going to need to be shopping things around and regularly moving between platforms offering the best combination of straight yields, plus usually some side rewards. Often this means putting money on younger platforms who are incentivizing investment because they're building up liquidity pools. It's about how much work plus risk you're willing to commit to balancing against profits. Pretty much capitalism in a nutshell.

Full disclosure : I currently leverage DAI stored in AAVE making 10% as my stable coin mechanic of choice. Doing limited LP providing over on Quickswap. Experimenting with the "pools" function on Polycat to see how that works out over a month run or so (so far, like the yields, NOT a fan of deposit fees, but they're apparently reducing deposit fees soon)

I believe Aave threw their hat in with zkSync as their L2 scaling solution, which should be launching on mainnet in August. I suspect Aave L2 pools will have great rewards for at least a few weeks, keep an eye out for it.

Crypto is fun. BTC sub $30k to $36k+ in one week for no reason.

THIS IS GOOD FOR BITCOIN MEME

I made the joke, then figured I’d watch the video. That guy seems so dumb to me. He can’t even articulate his thoughts and just reads stuff off the PowerPoint and adds, “See. Bitcoin is a new asset class.”

It's better if you put him on 1.75x speed.

I haven't read a single page of this thread, but I plan to depending on the response I get to my question --

I have 250k in liquid assets (that's not my entire portfolio, just what I can move around easily) and I'm finally ready to make the leap in to BitCoin....am I retarded?

I'm not completely un-informed about coin. In fact, I've done a ton of research or I wouldn't be considering making a 250k wager, but there are A LOT of different opinions regarding coin and I appreciate the kind of candid responses I'd get here.

*edit*

I realized I needed to frame my question a little better. My goal with BC is a long hold strategy (10+ years).

Come on in! We'll turn that 250k into 150k in no time! :D

On a side note, I'm starting to think that making money in Crypto is a bit like the old joke of making money in the wine business:

How do you make a small fortune making wines? You start with a large fortune!

Heh, some days I feel like an absolute fool that I'm not on the train yet and other days I couldn't be more thankful that I'm not.

However, I KNOW we're in for some financial fuckery over the next few years. I genuinely don't believe the buy and hold strategy in traditional markets (which have done so well for my wife and I) is going to continue. You can't print money at the rate we are without extraordinary consequences. And while my wife and I are certainly not poor, we're definitely not wealthy enough to ride shit out.

Honest question. You truly think investing 250k in BTC is a better 10 year investment than in MSFT, AAPL, QQQ, SPY, FTEC etc?
