THE NEXT TIME some pervert pinches your behind on the Tokyo subway, ask them if they've played the new butt-poking arcade game Boong-Ga Boong-Ga that is sweeping Japan.

In Boong-Ga Boong-Ga, known in English as "Spank 'em!" the player jabs a plastic finger into a jeans-covered bottom, which juts from the machine as if a person's head and torso were stuck inside.

Developed by a Korean company, Taff System, the game was received enthusiastically at the Tokyo Game Show last year. Taff System recently signed a deal to distribute 200 Boong-Ga Boong-Ga machines in arcades all around Japan.

Boong-Ga Boong-Ga leaves little to the imagination. Players can choose between eight tushy targets, including "ex-girlfriend," "ex-boyfriend," "golddigger," and "prostitute." Other characters include "mother-in-law," "child molester" and "con man."


"This is a fun game of spanking the people who make your life miserable," advertises a badly translated brochure. "When you spank the character that you choose to punish, the face expression of the character will change as they scream and twitch in pain. The funny face expressions will make people laugh and relieve the stress."

If you think about it, gaming pretty much is all about bizarre shit, though some stuff is more bizarre than others. I mean, WTF were the guys at Nintento smoking when they decided to make a game about an Italian plumber smashing his head against masonry while avoiding killer turtles and mushrooms?

Then in modern times, we have games like Euro Truck Simulator 2 where you just drive around Europe in a lorry. If that isn't bizarre, I don't know what is (though it's fun, I have all the DLCs).

But hey, here's one that is a bit "more out there" in the bizarre department, James Pond, where you play as a secret agent gold fish working for Her Majesty... or something...

I feel it's a bit too easy to find weird things if we list indie games, rom hacks or RPG makers games. For me the real WTF moment is when some super strange stuff ends up on established consoles.

Things like... Kuma Uta... (literally Bear Song) a game about writing songs that are then sung by a bear. On PlayStation2. I guess it's a party game / comedy game ? Damn.



Less surprisingly, there are also a number of japanese video game around the theme of potty humor, like PC-Engine shooter Toilet Kids or the based on TV show platformer Kato-chan & Ken-chan (J.J. & Jeff in the US with a lot less pooping in the bushes and farting at enemies).

Now there are also a lot of games a little less strange in their execution but with odd and original themes. An example of that is Moon: Remix RPG Adventure a 1997 PlayStation game where you play a guy who has to fix the mess the hero of RPG left behind him in his quest for fame and glory ! This comes to mind because it will be released on Switch in English in a not so distant future.

Some asshole i dont even know gifted me this game just so people would see it on my game list, but jokes on them i never accepted it and its still sitting there waiting to be claimed. So whatever fuck did that, fuck you.

One I had as a kid:



Baby Boomer had a pastel blue cart so it probably was a non licensed game my parents found at a yard sale. It was a light gun game where you blast everything in the path of this baby crawling around. I think you even went to hell if memory serves lol.

It was shit.

Not so much a bizarre game as Star Control 3 was just bad, but this is one of the most bizarre moments ive ever seen in a game(mice explaining why they like to be eaten);



I cant imagine how many vore fetishes this created.

This game was soooo weird to me when I was a kid. Not quite as weird now looking back but at the time it was like my little 5 year old brain's acid trip.
