Got it today, and hit L20. I guess it's time to figure out how things like nodes work.
Always keep your energy at 0. Nodes really aren't that important, especially in relation to drops. People aren't even sure that they're working, and some even think they decrease the drop rate for items... They only really matter when it comes to fishing and production, and you'll need a lot of CPs (which you get from quests) to get there.

So try to raise your knowledge by talking to every NPC with a ! mark, killing every new creature you see until you gain knowledge on it, and basically reading books, visiting the Calpheon library, etc.

Biggest thing is to carry around a pickaxe, butcher knife, blood kit (whatever), and constantly gather ingredients. Weasel blood for instance can sell for as much as 5k. That's the very first mob you see when you enter the game, and you only need a cheap gathering kit to get it.
You can also buy bottles and fill them up with river water and then "thin" them to get Purified Water, which sells for a lot, and you also get Aluvial Gold. All this will net you a lot of money and level up your gathering to (skilled-professional) where you start to get some really rare materials like Old Tree Bark or Black Crystals which sell for tons.

When YOU gather you get things that workers can't. If you mine copper/iron nodes, you get rough stones that turn into black powder (which sells for a lot). If you mine trees, you get logs. So forth. I'd say gathering bushes, plants, fruits is the least profitable... and you don't need a tool to do that. Waste of energy.

So gather & purify water, collect animal blood, chop trees, and mine mineral nodes. Carry all four tools and they all level the same skill.

30 game and 20 in Daum cash. Then buy a pet, weight increase and inventory space. You can get a T1 horse from the stable in the first major town you end up in (Velia) for relatively cheap and that'll last you until you decide to play horse breeder and upgrade the Tier.

I'm sure the Musa class will be over populated for a while. I was looking forward to that class and eventually the Ninja.

The grind from 50-51 is sickening. I might save my Wizard main leveling until each weekend when you get the EXP buff. Maybe the Musa during the week.

Made 51 last night after a little over a week since 50 but I was pretty selective on specific grind sessions. I still had some 50% combat exp scrolls from leveling up and bought some milk tea. At about an hour before ingame time would hit 10pm I'd stop whatever I was doing and head over to where I was planning to grind (in this case, Catfishmen). I'd usually get there around 9:30pm. Pop scroll and tea and just go to town until the scroll expired. It definitely helped cut down on the time needed. Now begins the slog to 52. Only one combat scroll left.

Pretty much exactly what my plan is. I'm parked at Catfishmen with scrolls and awaiting 10pm.

I didn't know what Milk Tea until was you mentioned it so bonus to you! If you're on Edan let me know in game if you want to group up. Name is XXMcFlyXX (with the X's)

Yes, please buy Jait's patented Milk Tea. For that extra long session, think about imbibing Jait's Smooth Milk Tea, with an extra dab of honey for those long sessions when you want to sneak in an extra buff or two after 30 minutes.

And also think about purchasing one of my other fine products while you're at it.... Those mother fuckers at Catfish got you down? Pop a Jait's Knight Ration for that extra boost you'll need to push your enemies shit in.

These comments paid for by Jait an Artisan 2 Cook on Orwan.

For a bit I was using knight's rations but I think I need to either stop or find a different third food. I use calpheon and serendia specials and I don't care much for having half of the knight's ration bonus being overlap with serendia's. Not really sure there is any other food out there that I would need tho.

Yeah I'm only pimping Knight's Rations because I got a 100 up on my market that aren't fucking selling right now with everyone grinding their new twinks.

Was making a FUCKTON of money (people who sold their meat croquettes, milk, puddings, on the market thank you!) off those two items until recently, now other cooks are catching up I'm moving over to fishing hotspots for cash.

Draegan's comment (knowing his gaming behavior) may have tipped my hype meter - still think I need a 7 day code before I push out the cash.

Ok...downloading the game now. Friend gave me a 7 day code.

Need tips for leveling please.
You're going to spend the first 10 hours saying fuck this game is stupid, these controls are stupid, RANG RANG RANG! After your initial tissy fit you will be horribly offended by the Slave Blocks and how you will need to keep your "workers" working by feeding them beer. If they complain too much you can sell them now, they added that in a previous patch. Not sure when the beating option will be added. Once you've stabilized your empire and put those filthy goblins to work, you're likely to take your horse and run around the world a few times. You'll then notice the boats.... That's when you'll start fishing. At some point later in the month you'll become a CP and Energy whore who realizes there's not enough hours in the day to do all you want in this game. Oh yeah...combat...

If you strictly want to dive in and grind combat, just press buttons and watch the videos that pop up on your screen. It's really not all that hard, and google "Black desert levelling guide" or map. It's really hard to explain until you've dived in and done some of this stuff first hand.

edit: Random newbie first starting out things

Do not throw away the weapons your Black Spirit gives you. Ever. Put them in the bank if you switch to a Yuria.

Your donkey is a waste of space.

Spend your CP, no need to horde it for the 20-60-100 daily.

Go buy a fluid extractor and butchering knife. Harvest all you kill early on, most people have moved on from that and will pay a pretty penny on the market for blood and meat. (ALWAYS hit MAX on sell for those items)

Have fun. Do what you want. The game is a sandbox.

Specifically milk tea for the 8% xp, that's the highest for food/drink. Don't waste your scrolls until 51

Addendum. If you roll into a place with people and you DON'T see any quests, open up your quest log and make sure Combat quests are visible.

Oh, and important note. Quests in this game are largely to give you something to do while you're grinding mobs. Very few actually give you leveling exp when you turn them, they instead award Contribution.
