I rest my fingers and on the g10 11 12 keys like you're meant to. Those three keys are f e and jump. I use the 15 key for shift and 3 key for pots. My g600 third mouse button is q.

Works real well.
Sure, but can't you do that with a keyboard? I have a G13 too that I used for guild wars and a G600 I used for ArcheAge. There's just so few buttons I don't see the upside to pulling out the G13. The downside to it is having to move my hand from my g13 to my keyboard when I type (which is unfortunately a lot for me).

My enjoyment of this game is tempered by the lack of channels on Edan. The combat becomes unfun when you are running in a cave for 3 minutes in between the one mob at a time you manage to steal from a ranger or wizard.
Khuruto cave? Even during the 4 day heasdstart that cave was terribly overrun by people; every guide says to go there. The same mobs are above ground and seem far more plentiful/less farmed.

I personally love the freedom of moving with the thumbstick, leaving my fingers free.

The key is that I use the stick for WASD so my fingers don't have to play with Q E F along with directionals.

I just dont' type a lot in game. Yay teamspeak.

The crafting/trading, etc is stealing all my attention, which is very unusual for me. Only level 18 and still in the Velia area; cleaning up all the quests in this area before I move on. Having a lot of fun though, gonna buy the Explorer pack when my 7 day trial ends. The only thing I don't like is the Energy system and the lack of equipment graphics. I have yet to run to zero points but it makes me FEEL limited and I know at some point I'll want to grind out some harvesting or something and possibly run to zero points. Also wish the gathering times were 10s and not 20s. At what point does gear I wear actually start to show up on my character? So far only sword/shield change graphics, and minimally at that.

You can get gathering gear that improves gather time. At level 24 I had a 6 second gather time with logs due to a steel axe, gather outfit, table buff from house, and gather food buff from many quest rewards. that time can be improved more as well. Most gear is variations on the central look of the character, then you can dye as well. also there are outfits, some in the cash shop yes, but some can be crafted as well. If you do not know about it you can hit a major wall in crafting, talk to the black spirit and use the guide button to get the crafting starter quests and DO them. You need to do them to open up a ton of options for the flavor of crafting that you want to do.

If a leveling guide says to go there, check it out. But if it's crowded / camped then move to the same mobs but a ways away (outside of caves, etc). Which is usually much less crowded. There are a ton of mobs everywhere, the guides point to the lemming spot. You can usually find a good spot that isn't too camped.

The lemming spots are great for groups though.

I can play an underpowered class and not care, but I can not play a "broken" class. Berserkers are currently fucking BROKEN, as in you might as well shit cardboard.

Our class resolves around a three grab CC combo and without it we're nothing.

Black Desert - Grabs, Lag, and You - YouTube

THIS, THIS, THIS, THIS.

Not only do they not work, they don't grab people when people are moving, but people end the grab on their feet instead of knocked down (so you can't frenzied destroyer), and then not only that when you miss you're stuckin a 4 second fucking animation where people can shoot you in the back. All this in a class that has the survivability of a moist pancake. 115 DP and I get one shot by Sorcs.

Fun, I'm rerolling.

Can one character be a master crafter for everything, realistically? The current guy I'm playing (Warrior) is my "learner" character and probably my crafter/trader once I make an alt that will become my combat/pvp character (Ranger, probably).

Well legit crafting is generally account based because it's based on housing and worker quality in said housing. I think only the Cooking/Alchemy/Processing/etc. is on the character sheet? It might even be account based, not sure.

Really not looking forward to this, but to honest if I can I'm going to avoid PvP as much as possible unless I eventually join PRX again. That said, Storming Beast just feels like such a fucking good move. The animation/sound/damage combo turns me on, but that's just for random AOE grinding

Yup, Edan is the server and has a bunch of "channels" where it really doesn't matter which channel you play on unless you want to group with someone specific you have to be on the same channel.

I went into it completely blind as well but am digging it so far.

How does the longevity look in Black Desert? Is this going to maintain decent numbers or crash and burn like most games?

Also if anyone has a spare 7-day trial key, I would love to check the game out at least before diving in.

The more I play this, the more I get annoyed with the intentional tediousness to push you towards the cash shop. It's a buy-to-play game with free-to-play mechanics and cash shop model.

The complete lack of armor sets without paying $30 is pretty discouraging as well.Everyonelooks exactly the same, unless you take out your wallet. And it's not even that I'm against microtransations. I've spent probably near $500 on skins for League of Legends. I can justify spending $5 for a visual upgrade. But $30? I can buy an entire game for that price. I can't bring myself to do it on principle alone (I refuse to buy the $30 skins in LoL as well). Beyond that, even if you want to dye your armor to look a little different, you're having to pray to the RNG gods because their system is such a scam. Even the random Awakening system is frustrating, since some are so much better than others. But of course you can reroll randomly for a price.

Honestly, I wish I had done a bit more research because this just really isn't a game model I care to support. I'll get my money's worth out of it and probably move on.

I think it's going to solely depend on if you find a good guild to PvP with, or if you just really enjoy being a trade baron. There's really not much of an end game from what I've read.

I played a Zerk up to 21 and felt too weak, fun to spin, but I took a lot of dmg. Rolled a Valkyrie and was pretty amazed at the difference in damage and durability.

I can agree with the sentiment but I notice there are crafting titles for costume crafting so I'm not sure if that's a 'release' concern or a permanent one? I haven't followed KR at all so no idea.
