$2k level added to the KDM kickstarter now - so tempting to change to it even though I'd have an extra core and a bunch of expacs to sell afterwards

Hmm I'll have to check. Any reason it's better than Satan Lantern?

Nah, I hedged on $1666 - it looks like $1666 with a different T-Shirt and one extra set of Pinups that would be $115 as an add-on. So you could get the same (besides the T-Shirt swap, no way to fix that to my view) for $1781 by my math. It's not impossible I'm missing something though, kinda tired ATM.

Edit: Thanks for making me look back on it - the new $1000 level is far more sensible for me rather than having a shitload of doubles since I've got all but 3 full expansions for the Core. (Manhunter, Flower, and Lion Knight + Green Knight Armor mini expac)

Haha good deal. As an owner of exactly zero things, and wanting everything, I don't think there's anything better than Satan's Lantern for me, from what I can tell.

Can't wait!

Heh, it's like appreciating art Hat, you can get a ton of (insert random podunk artist here) instead of a single masterpiece - but yet there's a market for both.

Inorite! At least the early pledges are looking like they're going to turn out to be fantastic deals. Pretty sure MSRP for my pledge level will be something north of 3k, probably 3500ish. And I will likely sell off a lot of the pin-up/promo stuff that isn't gameplay related, to mitigate some of the cost.

I just don't see myself ever getting my money's worth out of it. But I have plenty of stuff here in my office that most people would say I paid too much for, so have at it and enjoy.

I finally got Unspeakable Words Deluxe Edition delivered to me after over 1.5 years.

I'd be lying if I said I do much table top gaming aside from the board game here or there... That being said, is this new kickstarter for the Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 the only way to realistically get in on this without paying a thousand dollars on eBay? Thinking about getting in on a tier for my father. Looks pretty badass honestly, and the resin figures by themselves just look great.

Yes. They have been sold out from the original run for a while now. So either get in now or be at the mercy of second hand pricing.

Note: All figs for the game are Hard Plastic, if that matters, not resin.

I bought a figure on black friday (Fade) to check out the quality of the figures and at least compared to my Black Plague minis, the difference in quality is noticeable. Both thumbs up for hard plastic.

Doubt I can afford all the pinups, can't decide between pinups of death 2 or 1, leaning towards 2 any thoughts.

Fade isn't a game fig - so that could be resin. The quality on the hard plastic is phenomenal regardless though. (Non-game figs are done as both resin and hard plastic at times)

And yea, best quality miniatures I've personally ever seen in person - although I've not handled any recent GW ones to compare there.

So I managed to sell my Hex account for $800, and just sold my existing copy of KD:M for 800 (took 14 minutes on ebay, should have asked for more? lol), so now that Satan's Lantern is looking totally reasonable. Now to see if I can drop my Black Friday Silver Lantern for one.

I love board games way more than anyone I know but I would never spend that much money on a game. I guess it's mostly because I'm not into miniatures games?

Even sans minis it's still an expensive game because of the component quality - Core is like $100 in non-mini production cost alone. And $150 in minis.

And that's before the upgrades coming with 1.5 like hardcover books.

Depends how much time you put into it. If you play it a ton due to replay value like this one has, the value is easy to see. Add more personal value if you enjoy miniature painting. Add more personal value if you enjoy assembly/customizing miniatures.

It all depends what you're into. I probably have spent several thousand in various games over the past 20 years and it's one of my favorite hobbies. I've also spent hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing the games, painting, etc. it's fairly cheap entertainment when you look at dollars spent per hour.

I always think about other people's hobbies when I start feeling guilty about the money. I know people who have spent tens of thousands on Harley's, or building cars, boats, etc. and they really don't use the stuff much due to weather/time, it loses value like crazy, or gets wrecked, maintenance costs, etc.

Meanwhile I can break out my 90s Magic cards and play some rounds with friends at any time. Play my pristine copy of Hero Quest with my dad, teach someone how to play Heroscape, admire my painted zombicide figures, etc.

Played KDM on tabletop sim last night, they have a version that is decently scripted now and I can see the appeal of this game.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Mountain biking isn't particularly cheap itself, which is my other go-to hobby.
