I have almost come to post this exact same thing about ten times. The side characters are the only thing that makes this game seem like a BL game; the main characters and storyline must have been written by a different team because the differences are astounding. Also, it seems like planets/zones were handled the same way. They were given to discreet teams with their own idea of what constitutes a good zone and the left to their own devices. Have you noticed how the 'fun' zones have a ton of vending machines and it feels like you can legitimately pick up all the loot because you have a place close to sell it? Those were the zones designed by the competent team. The other ones where you go half a fucking planet away without a single place to sell is ridiculous. It also doesn't help that the 'lost loot machine' has no discernable rhyme or reason to what dropped or left behind loot it picks up and what it does not.
Oh for sure, although I mostly thought Eden 6 had that handled.... the worst offendors were the linear one off planets like the monastery one, where there is one quick travel point. But yeah I get it. Eden 6 was just weird... on paper it was exactly my kind of design... a hub "open" world area with spokes that were more linear dungeon type places. But for some odd reason most of the "dungeons" just felt like they were too long. But that's my gripe with most of these loot games is they make the damn inventories needlessly restricted. Why? Nioh you had 500 slots out of the box, and it was awesome. Division 2's is good too... it's pretty hard to fill up once you get it up to 100 (which is nowhere near as expensive/hard as it is to get BL 3's up). And yeah I don't get the lost loot thing. I just consider it mostly bonus money for me when I get back to the ship. I'm rolling Amara so I require melee buff on any and all weapons so it's easy to screen. And I pick up as many blue + items for cash. I'm still not a fan of how gear works in a game meant for farming. You have 1 weapon at a time plus a shield, grenade, class mod, and artifact. I wish they had some armor slots as well but I guess that's what the talents and class mods are for. But really I'm 85% ok with the actual gameplay and systems. It's the story that really drags this shit down.
Oh and fuck the radio Crew Challenges. Those things just suck ass as FPS and Platforming just do not mix... ever. I love finding the Claptrap and Typhon things though (Although Typhon's Jersey accent is kind of dumb compared to what he's supposed to look like).
