Every single BMW I've had with automatic seats has had the same problem kick in after 6 months. The cheap shit plastic clamshell that hosts all the seat controls begins to creak when shifting your weight or pushing down on the clutch.

I have never had a rattle successfully fixed by a BMW service center. Right now the hard top on my Z4 sounds like a bag of popcorn in the micro when driving over uneven roads. Been to the dealer twice and all they are willing to do is smear more grease on the seals.

Took me 6 trips to the dealer and a phone call to BMW Canada for them to finally replace the driver's seat bottom, which sounded like a rusty mattress every fucking time my left leg extended to clutch or I shifted weight around. Idiots would come for a test drive, acknowledge the sound and where it was coming from, and report it fixed by greasing the seat rails or tightening a bolt. When it was obvious it was internal to the seat itself.

All you people bitching about creaks and rattles makes me wonder, don't you have one of these things?

Just about anytime I'm in the car my radio is cranked.

so what do u have in mind for ur next car?
Not sure if this is directed at me or others, but my current need for a car is an AWD car that isn't shit, i'm hoping a Volvo or a Subaru total rolls into my stall soon so I can buy it up for salvage. I'm not in a total rush but I'd like it before summer, if it doesn't come I'll just pick up your standard mid 90's Volvo V70.

Picked up a mx-5 as a weekend fun car. It has turned into my daily driver, sold my F150 and my wife drives an expedition el to haul the kids around. The mx-5 is a blast to drive, good handling...although I am tempted to put a turbo and new pipes on it which would bump it up another 100hp.

I love my Nissan Juke. Perfect for my needs. Great price range for what you get, decent gas milage, does well in crash ratings.
Too bad it's the ugliest fucking car on the road right now, and a bitch car at that. Sell it and drive anything else.

That's really disappointing I must admit.. How old is your S5? At least in my case, all the rattles come from choice of hard plastic BMW uses, and when I looked at an Audi last week the plastic in the cabin was more "tacky" in nature. Now I don't know what the hell to buy.. Not big on Mercedez styling and they don't offer manual trannies anymore.

Any recommendations on a nice, sporty ride that has a quality SILENT interior in the 40K-60K range?
'09+ CTS-V; 550hp supercharged V8, 6speed manual, quite if it's stock and nothing in it's class or price bracket can touch it. Not to mention, magnitudes more reliable than anything German.

Hmmm, will look into it. I kind of find the styling odd-- looks like something out of Battlestar Galactica. Also, at least last time I checked out Cadillac (2009 Escalade) the leather interior was cheap and overall the car had this "luxury on a dime" feel.

They still have that luxury on a dime feel. I drove the CTS (not the V) when I was buying my car, it's still a notch below the Germans. The CTS-V will absolutely blow the doors off any of its direct competitors though. The next gen CTS is about to come out and supposedly it is moving further upscale in order to better compete from a luxury standpoint. As it is now the ATS and the CTS are basically the same price and build quality even though the CTS is supposed to be a higher model.
