Chryslers were really bad during the 90s and early 2000s. We benchmarked a few models during the 90s and what a fucking joke they were. Its like going back to the 80s in engineering. There is a running joke among the Detroit engineering and design community....Nice CAR! Too bad its a fucking Chrysler.

They have come a long way since then though.

Any opinions/experiences on Jeep Wranglers? Specifically the '94 with the four cylinder. Looks like only one of the four models four the year came with that engine.

Wranglers are chick cars. So unless you're a female, I wouldn't advise you get one.

Wranglers are chick fucking magnets too. Not sure I see how a jeep isn't manly though, but thanks for the input!

If you need a car to pull chicks, I think you're doing something wrong. Possibly a lot of things.

Wranglers are nice if you dump another 10-15k into them.

I'm not but its true, chicks love those things.

Wouldn't be looking to do any actual offroading and shit. Was wondering more about reliability of the engine, pushing 175K. Wouldn't be taking it on long trips or anything.

Jeep had some major recalls all through their history. Not sure about that specific year and model but they as a company worry me.

Basically what a_skeleton_03 said. I wouldn't jump at it. Most crap out under 200k. However, if you have a personal mechanic, you can have him check it out. Is this a private seller or a dealership? Who was the previous owner? Etc, etc.

Private seller. Haven't even looked in person, so no idea on previous ownership. I'd probably get the VIN and do a car fax or something I guess. Not going to consider unless he's willing to drop from his asking price to closer to the Kelly blue book anyway. He said there's a year old state inspection and claims it runs well and has a few recent maintenance items (alternator, thermostat/sensor and some other minor shit). I'd want to know about tire life, brake age, clutch age too. Says virtually no rust, none on frame and bottom/floor pans have been sprayed with coating.

if your not going to be doing any offroading I can only assume you want it for looks? its not like they are roomy.

This is a good point. They are quite small. A friend of mine has his rear seat removed 100% of the time just so he can fit in his golf bag.

I personally don't see the appeal of it. But if it's in good shape, was properly maintained, and the going price is solid fuck it get it.

They are also deathtraps in accidents and get flipped in a strong wind.. I wouldn't buy it unless I lived in the woods, but then again I don't understand why non-construction workers buy pickup trucks either..

I call it the Zoolander effect. Hummers in the city with neon always makes me laugh.

My in-laws are like that. Have a V8 Tacoma, a Titan, and a tiny-ass Hyundai Elantra. One works in the grocery store and the other has a work van. Not really sure... can't explain it, although the truck has personally come in handy when I've had to move stuff.

?? They weigh about 4000lb with a driver. They are actually a very solid and heavy vehicle.

ya, don't quite get the death trap thing. If this is going to be a main vehicle you have chosen wrong unless its to do with your profession.( and thats a stretch)

EDIT as previously said, if you want a city pussy picking up machine you have chosen correct

Not a main vehicle. Weekends, beat around thing. I'm sort of considering a four banger 2WD pickup too, but they don't seem to be popping up as much. Mostly like F-150's that are run into the ground. People don't seem to give up their little Toyota pickups as easily.

Its more for like, throw a hitch rack on the back for mountain bikes, never worry about dirt and mud or water and sand from the beach. Throw some trash bags and recycling in back for dump runs and not give a fuck. Leave the top off all summer unless its going to rain, or if caught in rain...again who cares.

I'm referencing the Wranglers that don't have doors and are basically enclosed by snap-on plasti-wrap. That's all I see down here in Tejas, usually with massive flood lights to piss off other drivers at night. If I see a plasti-wrap Wrangler or a pickup truck with low profile tires they are basically guaranteed to be asshole drivers.
