Cross became determined to make the suit after his mentor and boss, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), pushes him away. Stoll's character had become obsessed with the rumored Pym Particle, which allows Pym's Ant-Man suit to shrink in size, but Pym wouldn't share his secrets because he'd learned the danger of using the suit. It not only caused him to lose his wife Janet Van Dyne, but also affected his mind the more he wore it.

Because Cross started experimenting on himself with the shrinking technology, fans can read into his distressed mental state by assuming that using the suit affected his mind as well. Stoll says the major life event that sent his character down a dark path is Pym's rejection, though.

So I haven't ever read any Ant-Man in the comics. If he retains his mass/power/whatever (it's somewhat explained in the movie) when he's shrunken down, what the hell is the point of growing larger? He'd be a paper mache Macy's float balloon, no?

Because comic reasons?

how can he not?

Collider review didn't mention it though. spoiler free... but, I have a hard time imagining them not even teasing it, with veiled hints.
Ok, spoilers here folks so do not read if you want to be surprised, but for everyone else.

I just watched the Fatman on Batman review, and

They confirmed Giant Man is in the film, and Spider-man would have multiple costumes. So the costume we see in the trailer, as we already predicted is Stark's version.

Lego set spoiled this a while back. Airport battle has an Ant Man micro figure and a Giant Man.

We know, but it was still always a rumor with no confirmation. Toy sets don't necessarily always have the same content as what is in the movie.

My biggest question is: "How can you watch anything with Kevin Smith in it these days?"

Yeah I started watching is review of BvS that someone linked over in that thread and stopped about 15 minutes in because he such an unfocused spazz. I thought An Evening With Kevin Smith was pretty good but man has he changed since then.

yeah. Giant-man is practically screaming "I'm always angry" quip. Its hard to believe they didn't pull it out as the finale of Ant-man itself.

It's tough, we had this discussion during the BVS review.

He is not only super annoying I hate his opinion on pretty much everything.

Funny guy when writing dick sucking jokes, but otherwise everything else hes done is awful

I agree with you here 100%. He has really just become super annoying these days and I have tried to watch some stuff with him but now I just won't anymore.

While I'm not saying this is to blame, ever since he worked with Seth Rogan on Zack & Miri Make a Porno, Smith has been a HUGE pothead. Wake and bake, smokes all day every day. He's real big into it now. That probably contributes to his lack of focus on certain things.

His issue is he made his fame on the Clerks-a-verse films, but when he tried to branch out from that (Red State, Tusk, Zack and Miri), they all fell pretty flat. His attempts to return to the Clerks-a-verse also fell flat, so it isn't surprising he doesn't have much pull for major films anymore. He still has the nerd niche thing going, which can net you a comfortable living.

I met him once in person. A girl I knew was obsessed with him and we went to a signing he was attending at the now defunct Words and Pictures museum. So she gets her turn in line and she has an ultra geek out meltdown and asks if she can squeeze his cheeks, which he declined in a pretty lol fashion (ie, fearful), but he let her pinch his belly or something. He actually did a ton of modifications to a Chasing Amy poster she gave him (it was some odd international version as well...it was in Italian or Spanish I think), then wrote that she should calm the fuck down on it lol.

Going by the toys only, the costume stays the same when he shrinks ,or grows to the size of a skyscraper.
.
I think you missed the joke. He goes from Ant man to GI Ant man. Either that or the joke is such old hat amongst comic book readers that you decided to fuck with me by ignoring it.

He's made terrible films before Red State. Chasing Amy was brutal to sit through, and I guess everyone forgot Jersey Girl.

He's a one trick pony imo. Clerks and Mall Rats he was younger, and was able to tap into that young 20's to mid 30's humor because he lived it. Now he is just another rich old dude who is completely out of touch.

He says he does everything now to please himself only, but I find that hard to believe since he is going back to the movies that made him famous with the sequels to Mall rats, and Clerks in the works.

I have a really hard time watching anything he does anymore, and god forbid anyone lets him ever touch anything at Marvel.

A lot of people think that Chasing Amy is excellent, I ain't one of them though. Smith admitted that earlier on in his career he would often give line readings to his actors (when the director tells them "read it like THIS"), and it shows because the dialogue feels flat and unnatural to me. Nowadays his stuff has better acting but it feels like his product is worse, maybe because he is out of touch, maybe because he is constantly stoned. But I think it is because his scripts don't get any type of constructive criticism before he makes his shit.

For example, I saw a clip of his new movie about Canadian students and some boys were inviting some girls to a senior party. Except had Smith checked with ANY Canadian they could have told him we don't use terms like senior and sophomore in regards to school. They would say the girls were invited to the "Grade 12ers party". He is obviously not hurting anyway though, and I do pay attention to his Fatman on Batman podcast regardless since he tends to do them with quality people who unfortunately are sycophantic most of the time.

But hey, Cap looks good at least.
