It also makes Pete Thamel look like a fucking amateur. Please god tell me this is true.
Looks to be 100% true. ND tweeted that Teo was 'a victim of a hoax' and they knew on Dec 26 that the girl didn't exist.

Notre Dame Statement: Manti Te?o
On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te?o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.
Dennis Brown University Spokesman | Assistant Vice President

Seems like damage control to me, since Teo clearly stated that he met the girl, vacationed with her etc. Just batshit crazy, can't believe ESPN, SI, NYT didn't do any basic due diligence on the story. I personally subscribe to the 'covering up the gay' theory rather than 'milking sympathy for the Heisman' but who really knows.

Either way, this is one of the more fucked up stories I've ever heard in sports. Seems impossible he wasn't in on it - his statement on ESPN reads like cover up bullshit... Would have been smarter imo if he just kept his mouth totally shut about it. Lance Armstrong 2.0.

A&M AD meets with JFF and his parents. I guess there are concerned about his off field behavior.

Texas A&M's athletic director met with Manziel and his parents to talk about how to best handle his new fame.

"I told them he's no longer a freshman, and he's no longer a sophomore, junior or senior. He is a 'Heisman,'" athletic director Eric Hyman told the San Antonio Express-News on Sunday.

Hyman stressed how life-changing it is to be a Heisman Trophy winner.

"It's (about) education, and we've got to help the family and Johnny with the transition into being a Heisman award winner," Hyman said. "There are things you have to learn, and we have to help him with that."

Does this have to do with him showing up court side at two NBA games, a box at Cowboy stadium, and flashing rolls of cash in a casino? Good thing for A&M they are in the SEC, the NCAA is powerless.

Don't forget he was partying in a club in Dallas after the cotton bowl.

I think it has more to do with judgement. What could the NCAA do since the casino he was in only requires people to be 18 (indian casino) and his parents have plenty of money to purchase tickets at a basketball game etc...I know they own the oil palace in Tyler where most of the concerts in the region are held.

While technically not illegal (that we know of) there's no way Notre Dame escapes being the recipient of the Fulmer Cup for this.

I can't remember a single time someone posted anything in favor of Miami but this NCAA investigation thing is hilarious, there's a possibility they could get off with nothing further because of how bad they tainted their investigation. Just fucking pathetic.

"It's been a long year for him," said neurosurgeon Robert Bollo, M.D., with Texas Children's Hospital and the Baylor College of Medicine. "Having his skull taken apart, having to wear a helmet and go through chemotherapy and he's finally on the other side. So we're really happy for him."
Nolan's one-year journey had a few other unexpected "miracles." He got to meet Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt. At another event, he posed for pictures with country music star Jason Aldean. And as a Longhorn fan celebrating a now cancer-free life. we asked if he had any advice for his team.
"Yes sir," the always polite young man responded. But he also laughed, "Fire Mack Brown!"
Survives cancer and then advocates for firing Mack Brown. This 14 year old is my new hero.

A co-ed, and she is a fucking terrible looking Mexican trainer or some shit. Will never understand dudes getting caught in scandals with skanky bitches. If you're going to get caught, be proud of it for fucks sake.

It's only the 3rd or 4th report of abuse within the Texas athletic program in 5 years. If this was any other team, ESPN would be in Austin shoving a microphone in every face they could find.

Depends on what you mean by abuse. There is only one report of sexual abuse which is Cleve Bryant. The University had to pay off the girl in that one and it is a real black mark for Mack. Then there is the Bev situation which is currently going on. She was the women's track coach until it was discovered she was had a lesbian relationship with one of her athletes and gave them impermissible benefits. So she was fired when they found out about that but she is a black woman, so being a black woman she claimed she was fired because she was a black woman. Awesome! So she is now airing UT's dirty laundry (which every big university has though it normally doesn't get out) in an effort to get paid off because she can't actually win her lawsuit since its bullshit. Applewhite banged a trainer in '09, admitted to it in '09 and was disciplined for it. Thanks to Bev being a bitch that is now public knowledge. It is a non-story which is why ESPN isn't down there. Also, Texas is pretty irrelevant right now unless you want to discuss making money.

Supposedly there is another sex scandal that will come to light soon as well (Rumor is basketball). Needless to say DeLoss is on his way out soon which is a really good thing because he stopped doing his job years ago. Mack is out either next year or after the next season that the team doesn't live up to expectations (BCS bowl) which will probably be next year too. Basketball team is horrible and baseball is trending down. Oh well, about to get a new AD, FB HC, BBall HC, and Baseball HC so things are looking up.

I forgot to mention that the 5 star DT in our '13 just decommitted and switched to Bama. So not only is our '13 class small (by design due to low amount of scholarships), it just lost its best player, has zero DTs, zero RBs, and the only QB is a massive project that will most likely end up switching positions. While it doesn't matter for '13 and '14 because the team is ridiculously stocked with young talent, it will suck for the next coach.

It is not all lost though. At least our Satellite Design Laboratory won first place in the national University Nanosatellite Program! Another number 1 for Texas. Fuck you losers!

So, I would like to thank USC for being the biggest dumpster fire in CFB right now. They have lost 5 recruits today so far and are down to 12 total.
