Well it is almost 2am here and we just got back from hanging out with everyone after the game. Nothing I can say that ESPN won't replay for the next five days or until the next NFL playoff game, but...

58:45 of a football game are irrelevant when the offense hands you a lead with 1:15 to go. Missed field goals, quarterback runs, kick off returns don't matter. There was one minute left to win the national championship game. And we didn't do it.

Objectively I hope I am going to be able to look at this as a great game by both teams and a deserved end to the BCS era by giving everyone a competitive show, but right now I can't. We did everything right to win, except you know actually win.

Yeah I'm sad, but I think that is a good thing. The season that shouldn't have been but almost was. Being emotionally invested is a good thing, and happiness and sorrow it is great to be an Auburn tiger. And the Noles were pretty cool too.

I'm fine with only conference champions in the 4-team playoff. Only problem is, there are 6 BCS conferences right now with automatic qualifiers for BCS games. With a 4-team playoff you then have to make the decision that 1 conference champ is better than another. This year that probably leaves out Michigan St and UCF, and from the results of their bowl games we saw that they most definitely deserved to be there. Your 4-team playoff this year would have been Auburn, Florida St, Baylor, Stanford. 3 of those 4 teams lost their bowl game.

Unless we get down to 4 mega conferences in which the conference championships become a defacto "round of 8 playoff" to get us down to 4 teams, the 4 team system is going to be flawed.

We really need an 8-team playoff with the 6 conference champions and 2 wildcard/optional teams. Until that happens there is going to be big time controversy with conference champs getting snubbed.

Yeah, I just don't get why they didn't implement an 8 team system and get it right on the first try. You know there is going to end up being drama about which teams get left out still, and eventually they will move to 8 teams. It will of course take years of bitching for that to happen though. Maybe by 2025 we will have a proper college football playoff system.

Why reinvent the wheel, why not just use the same format the NFL uses. Just wondering why they won't do that
Setting up a playoff system for 32 teams is a lot simpler than setting one up for 125 teams.

Honestly, the FBS/Div 1/whatever needs to be split in half again. There should really only be about 60 or so large-class, D1/BCS level schools. Why even have the MAC and Sun Belt and WAC conferences in the highest tier of teams if their champions are not considered for any postseason playoffs? They could have their own league and own championship.

Wasn't Wisconsin kicking South Carolina's ass until Wiscy's QB got hurt? I thought I remember seeing they had a lead and 200 yards rushing in the 3rd quarter when he went out of the game. Yet they jump from 9 to 4? Could this shit be any more pointless?

Gotta make sure ND is ranked at the end of the year after beating fucking Rutgers.

That was the last AP poll. 4 teams in front of them lost, and everyone moved up..... They hopped Missouri but they have a head-to-head victory there. What's the problem again?

There is actually a way this could be more pointless. We could let the score in the 3rd quarter of games impact our decisions more than the actual outcome of the games as you seem to be promoting. *That* would make it more pointless.

I'd just be rehashing Dumar's posts if I were to argue against using the rankings to determine how good a team is. Pointless.

If anyone still thinks ESPN is not hilariously biased, just look at Musberger's comments immediately after the game. He's a fucking schill moron who just spews the company line like all the rest of the "analysts".

Hey Musberger, should've used the broadcast to segway more of that SEC Network coming in 2014! Fucking corrupt dipshits.

I'm surprised OU is ranked ahead of Alabama (lol at just one number above). That 2 td beating didn't mean anything though, because Alabama just wasn't playing SEC football that day. Just like South Carolina.

Pointless polls are pointless. I'm sad that we don't get to see another 2-loss LSU team in the NC, or a rematch of Alabama-LSU. Talk about some great games with teams worthy to be there!

Alabama was literally gifted every single BCS trophy they got.

If you want some ESPN shit, chew on this:

Florida State leads the 2014 way too early top 25 rankings - ESPN

Gotta sneak Notre Dame and Florida(!) in there at the end of the rankings. No mention of Missouri(#5 this year). UCF at #24 is a tad ridiculous since they are losing their QB and RB. A&M at 16 is even MORE ridiculous, seeing as how they didn't even finish that high this year WITH Manziel. Good luck without him next year.

Lol at Florida. Regime did you get a job at ESPN?!
I'd say get ready for a 2006 rematch but Urban's going have a heart attack after Michigan State wrecks house again.
