I never knew there were limits on prompts. Apparently I signed up early and got free lifetime unlimited?

Version 4 is limited to 25 prompts per 3 hours. 3.5 legacy and turbo are unlimited. When using 4 I'm pretty sure it notifies you and automatically switches to 3.5.

So the new version of Claude.ai is much better than ChatGPT for analyzing large amounts of texts. Insanely, disturbingly better. I fed >50k words of a novel I'm writing into it and it was able to comprehend the entirety of the plot, give all sorts of insights into the text, point out strengths and weaknesses. In a few places where it hallucinated, or didn't understand the timeline of a chapter, I was able to correct it and it then recontextualized it's understanding of the entire work. The fact that it was able to understand what each chapter was about already puts it way above ChatGPT 4 or BingGPT. ChatGPT has no concept of chapters once you've fed about 8k words into it.

Claude still can't write good prose for shit, but it can tell you a lot about what you've already written.

a novel I'm writing

Is Fabio on the cover?

Can you write me in as the sweaty tow truck driver with intoxicating pheromones? Give me all sorts of cheesy innuendo like "I'll jack you up if you jack me off" and "nothing rhymes with axle....almost".

Yes, I've noticed that it has trouble understanding the concept of linear time. Maybe because it sucks at math. I've heard good things about Claude and it's definitely on my list to check out. Thanks for the info.

One of the main issues I have is that I have to specifically prompt it to add things like gestures, descriptions of characters and items, facial expressions, tone of voice, having characters interact with props, have characters actually interact with each other, rather than just standing there reciting lines. It's quite tedious.

Edit: Oh, and it's also annoying how it always likes to slip from an actual scene into exposition mode, where it just starts telling you what happened instead of showing it.

Not to be a broken record about the superiority of GPT-4, but all these things you've mentioned are improved on GPT-4, like exponentially so.

The only issue with GPT-4 is that it's so good, going back to GPT-3.5 is straight up painful.

I hear you, and I appreciate the heads up, but, not to sound like broken record, I am focusing on improving my prompt writing skill, testing functionality and pushing boundaries. While doing this I like to use a stream of consciousness format. Having that interrupted after 25 prompts is so annoying that it's almost painful. I'm hoping that while I'm leveling up my ability to interact with it, that maybe they will extend the limits or remove them.

Yeah I get that. Usually when I hit that 25 prompts limit is when I'm in a straight up full immersion flow state, and it is definitely VERY jarring.

Maybe mess around a bit doing an A/B comparison, trying the same prompt on both 3.5 and 4. 4 is superior in many ways but not all, the A/B comparison will help get a feel for use cases where 4 is that much better as to be worth it.

Is this like a retarded version of the heart bleed vulnerability?

Dunno. People think it's either current responses, responses from training data, or just a randomly generated response. The last would be weird, to generate a specific response with zero context.

I just spammed through almost 100 of these, and every response was just giving information. I feel like if it was showing me other current responses, I would have seen some poetry or prose. Must just be random stuff from training data.

I just took the bing chatbot for a testdrive. Asked it to write a death metal song about mowing the grass:

Code:
# Mow the Grass

Verse 1:
I wake up in the morning and I feel the rage
I need to unleash my fury on the green landscape
I grab my John Deere lawn mower and I start the engine
It roars like a beast and I smile with a grin

Chorus:
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Cut it down to the ground
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Make it bleed with the sound
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Show no mercy or remorse
Mow the grass, mow the grass
With my John Deere lawn mower of course

Verse 2:
I push the mower across the lawn and I see the blades
They slice through the grass like a razor in a haze
I feel the power and the thrill of destruction
I don't care about the neighbors or their complaints

Chorus:
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Cut it down to the ground
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Make it bleed with the sound
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Show no mercy or remorse
Mow the grass, mow the grass
With my John Deere lawn mower of course

Bridge:
Some people say I'm crazy and I need to calm down
They don't understand my passion and my love for mowing down
The grass is my enemy and I must annihilate it
With my John Deere lawn mower I will dominate it

Chorus:
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Cut it down to the ground
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Make it bleed with the sound
Mow the grass, mow the grass
Show no mercy or remorse
Mow the grass, mow the grass
With my John Deere lawn mower of course

Outro:
Mow...mow...mow...mow...
John Deere...John Deere...John Deere...John Deere...

Bard was recently unlocked for EU users, trying some theory of mind stuff. Think I saw a post earlier in the thread where AI's got this horribly wrong, this isn't perfect but it's at a child level.
