You keep relying on Hope and Change (and unconfirmed rumors). Baylor will just keep out recruiting you.

Yup, that 39th ranked class isprettyimpressive. (48th on Rivals, lol)

I'll stick with the currently ranked 9th class (10th on Rivals) that is about to land 5-7 more players, all 4 or 5 stars. We have more 4 stars from the state of Florida than you have total. But keep "out recruiting" Texas, it is totally working.

Also, don't ever link ESPN's recruiting webpage. They are by far the worst of the main recruiting sites. 24/7 and Rivals are much better.

24-7. Works just fine. And that was with a team out of the 2010/2011 recruiting classes where Texas ranked 3rd in both and Baylor was still only 39th and 46th respectively.

So tell us all how awesome those recruiting classes are working out for you.

He'll get drafted. The sexual assault was not only never criminally charged, but the university cleared him as well. The NFL doesn't give 1 milligram of a shit about "fuck her right in the pussy" and there are plenty of pro football players who have done worse than stealing a pot of crab legs.

I think at this point all the league wants to know is if/when the guy is going to grow up and not end up in some of those situations again. Basically will he be another Johnny Manziel out there acting like a mostly harmless moron or not.

Cowherd: Nobody wants to say this on the air, but I've heard from football people that Oregon has really taken schematics out of the game, it's just really track and the game needs to be tweaked. It's too fast, it's not fair. Is Oregon really playing football or is just track and field? For you, as a former quarterback is it a turnoff sometimes to just see how fast you can do everything?

Herbie: If they just lined up and played ball and ran the same plays and didn't go fast, they would have a hard time moving the ball. I'm personally a fan of a new rule. Something in the game has to change for me. I feel like sometimes we watch college football now and it's like arena football. The tempo has gotten to be so much it has taken all the defensive minds out of the game and turned them into a non-factor. Something has to change.
That pretty much encapsulates what I've been saying for five years. I don't mind pace being a factor, but essentially rendering the normal strategic maneuverings irrelevant and making everything a slave to pace by not allowing the defense(reactive by definition) to substitute creates a lesser product. This is apropos of nothing really, I just thought seeing Herbie voice essentially the exact opinion I've had since this whole "faster, faster" horseshit started to take over college football is pretty relevant. I really don't see why a modest pause for defensive substitutions after every first down is unreasonable. It would bring specialist packages back and allow for more of a cat and mouse game tactically.

I know what the likely response to this is but I don't see how anyone who loves the game could watch how it has changed and not view it as an inferior product.

Herbie also still thinks spiking the ball in a 2 minute drill is a good idea. In a game where you can get plays off before the chains move...

But defensive changes need to be made. Safties need to get bigger and faster therefore able to be closer to the box and bail out to get over the top on a cover 2

Also the concept of a linebacker needs to change. Lines need to be blurred when it comes to size and skillsets of the second level. Also the days of a "pass rush only" DE need to go out the window. I see way too many wannabe bruce smiths jumping inside and just wrecking contain on a QB who can run. Also they think attacking the mesh point is a waste of a QB hit and it makes the job of the zone read much easier. Its a bloodlust thing for them.

Cornerbacks are cool...simply because WR do not block very hard right now in general.

It's not like Oregon has gone undefeated ever since Chip Kelly showed up there. Auburn in the title game, Stanford the last few years, and even Florida State this year had success against that offense. The reason the score was so lopsided in the end was Florida State gifting Oregon 4? turnovers in the third quarter. The game was very close at halftime.

The Texas defense, which plays in a spread, up-tempo conference, allowed an average of 23.8 points per game. TCU averaged 19 points per game allowed. Sure, there are some crap teams pulling that average down, but its not like defense is dead and every game is Baylor vs TCU.
