Maybe I spoke too soon about Orgeron. Keeping your first team O in right now seems like a bad idea. You could sub your entire second string in and probably not give up 35 points to Jalen Hurts. Winning this game by anything more than 1 point is meaningless.

I'm not sure. I saw Oregon beat Utah down not too long ago and Oregon would have been destroyed by this LSU team. No one outside of the top 3 would have competed. The truth is that there are at most 3 elite teams every year. Just like Washington/Notre Dame/ FSU shouldn't have been in previous games, the 4th team will usually get wasted by the #1. This game should reinforce the 8 team playoff. I want to see the MAC/C-USA, etc. winner vs #1 overall every year. It couldn't be worse than this and Oklahoma shouldn't end the year on this note after being 12-1. It's even more embarrassing than calling the Big-12 a real conference.

in 5 playoffs so far the 4 seed has won 2 championships and the 1 seed has never won.

With all due respect. If the 4th team most years always gets trashed by the 1st, that mean 4 teams is good enough. At least this way there is only 1 loop sided game.
the 8,7,6,5, will not be any better than the team ranked as 4. 1 will trash 8, 2 will trash 7, 3 will trash 6, only 4 and 5 will be an equivalent game.

The 4 seed has actually beaten the 1 seed twice out of 5 playoffs so far and both times ended up winning the title. No matter how many teams you end up letting in there's going to be teams that just miss and feel left out. 4 is fine, doing like 6 or 8 wouldn't be the worst, but those teams will tend to be significantly worse than the top 2 or 3 teams.
