Figured it would be nice to have a place to review your favorite colognes / perfumes. Being recently divorced I'm finding I have to care about this a lot more.

Acqua Di Gio - Giorgio Armani

I was recommended this cologne by a female co-worker shortly after becoming single and have been fairly impressed with it. I get many favorable responses to it from women in my workplace and dates. Good for everyday wear but it doesn't seem to be noticeable unless you are within arms distance (which is good in my opinion because I hate tasting people when they walk by). I'm not one of those people that can rattle on about woody undertones and such, so I can just say that the smell is sharp at first but mellows out very fast.

Eros - Versace

Picked this up at Macy's today after trying out a few different samples. It seems to get mixed reviews online with people either loving it or hating it. Personally I like it, but haven't gotten to run it by the various women in my life so we will see if it's a keeper. I like that it is long lasting (I've had it on for about 5 hours and can still detect it) but can't tell if it's too strong yet. It reminds me of a spicy mint with a hint of citrus. Quite a few reviews online bitched about the vanilla in it - I can't really tell, but then again when I think vanilla it makes me think of the extract in baking.

I have not worn cologne in 7 or 8 years, but when I did, it was this

Acqua Di Gio is what everyone wears so I deliberately tried to find something different.

That's kind of why I tried the Eros. Girlfriend is coming over tonight so we'll see what she thinks.

I'm not a cologne wearer in general, but I thought I'd chime in about this shitty new Adam Levine cologne. The specific name escapes me. Anyway, I had the misfortune of smelling it recently and it's awful.

Trust me, this cologne is probably the best investment you'll ever make. It's pussy magnet capabilities are unrivaled. Before settling down with my current GF, I probably went on 15 dates wearing this cologne, and it NEVER failed to elicit a compliment. A female friend of mine describes it as "pure fucking amazing". Just buy it. You can get it at Barney's. Careful getting it at some random place online. If you see it for under $100 it is most likely counterfeit.

For any one that hasn't tried it yet, I highly recommend grabbing samples of Maison Francis Kurkdijan's Grand Soir. If you like amber and vanilla, this is the one. If you decide to grab a full bottle, don't buy it from the website, they fucking suck and their customer service is pitiful. Buy in store, srs.

I have a 35ml and this stuff is STRONG, will last a while.

What are you guys going to rock in the cooler seasons?

Gallagher Fragrances Wicked Good is great for gourmand lovers. Definitely recommend grabbing a sample first though.

It doesn't stay cool down here for very long, so I don't go out of my way to buy fragrances that are cold-weather-only. However, f someone buys me some, I'll use it unless it's absolutely awful. I don't like things going to waste.
  • Memo Irish Leather: Not really a fan of this because it has a mate/peat moss note in the open, but my spouse got this as an anniversary gift, and it's better after the first 10-15 minutes, so I'm using it until the bottle is gone.
  • Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Priveé

Outside of winter, I usually do Terre d'Hermes or aquatics; I have a really good dupe of Wood Sage and Sea Salt, but that might lean a bit androgynous for the taste of most here.

Oh man, I think winter frags are some of the best out there.

Givency Gentleman Reserve Privee was actually on my list, but ended up getting into niches. Heard a lot of good stuff about Terre d'Hermes. You might want to check out MFK's Aqua line, it's basically flavored water as a scent lol, he's got different variants in the line, but they wear very light.

I rocked Chanel Allure Homme Sport and Day Three Fragrances Bani throughout the summer, lil bit of Gallagher Mists of Time as well.

nice brah

you pick up any new frags recently?
No it's been a while, but I've been thinking I need to pick up something new for a while. I've just been using the same old fragrance I've been using forever now. Takes me forever to get through one, I don't like to have a strong or overpowering scent.

I've had 2 bottles of stetson for like 20 years. Wife likes it but i feel like it quickly fades and almost stars too strong.

Never use it hardly given I've not finished them. Not sure if folks just reapply when some body has a good perfume/cologne smell from 5 feet away at 4 in the afternoon.

Id probably use something just because I get insecure about getting a bit stale by the end of the day being just under the level of sweating due to my vest am day, I always shower the second I'm home.

Anything pleasant but not "loud" that is long lasting and isn't some >$100 fru fru thing?

I'd recommend Chanel Allure Homme Sport

110 for a 1.7oz (50ml) from Nordstrom or Macy's - I got it on advice of being a safe blind buy, I wanted something that was a fresh out of the shower type scent, opens with light citrus / shower gel smell and lasts 5-8 hours on me. In the later stages of the fragrance's wear on you, you might get hits of vanilla and amber, it's incredible. I'm not sure what a vest am day is, but your sweat will also activate this stuff, you can wear it to the gym, during a workout, or whenever, it's super versatile. If there are any safe blind buys, this is one of them, but I recommend sampling in store if you get a chance.

There are flankers (variants) of this fragrance, but this is the exact one:
