well sunspot did inhert his family's bazillions, but him and cannonball just seem like the doofy comic relief, like "we need 2 dumb idiots to illustrate how dumb they are and how cool [insert avenger] is"

and i guess someone had to take over AIM cuz we needed the evil corps, evil tech to do evil things that the good guys would never invent. (currently they're doing something to the shiar cuz gladiator wants to destroy earth to save the universe or something)
I'm kinda over Gladiator.

Secret Wars #1 was.... interesting. Better than Convergence #1 I suppose. Already wiping out familiar faces en mass, but guessing they'll just pop up in different parts of Battleworld or something. Already wondering how they 'put everything back' since world-destroying events usually leave the general population none the wiser when it's over.

I love the art. For some spoilery samples of it, here you go:Marvel Just Cant Stop Torturing The Fantastic Four, Can They? (Secret Wars Spoilers) - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movie, TV News

hickman has done a great job, squeezing out every bit of goodness that was in the ultimate universe (mainly his run) but frankly if you haven't read
avengers
avengers world
new avengers

maybe you should? to see what has all lead up to secret wars.

Because what we have now been told by multiple sources is that the X-Men will discover that the Inhuman Terragenesis mists kills mutants. And with it circling the globe, the X-Men and mutantkind choose to leave the Earth, go onto space, and found a brand new world.
LOL, good lord. As much as I hate Fox, I hate what has happened to the X-men. They were by far my favorite super hero group.

That sounds terrible. Every new character I've read coming from a nostalgia trip off playing Marvel Heroes has been retarded. It's like there's the classic xmen then a bunch of dopey as fuck kids like a giant brain and a brood child. Are people actually paying money to read about the adventures of Rock Boy and Someotherfaggot?

I don't think they had a choice. Avengers and Xmen can't be on the same planet in the comic books then pretend that they dont exist in the movies. Makes things kind nuts. Spiderman was the big one. Xmen being moved to another planet is like placing them in a warehouse until they can figure something out. They could have given them the death penalty like they did the Fantastic Four.

I don't even understand why it matters really, since both universes (comic and movie) are separate anyway. About 98% of moviegoers (true story) don't give a shit what is going on in the comics anyway, so whether they kill the Fantastic Four or all the mutants or whatever, it isn't going to affect anyone but a select few, and they already have to accept that they are two different universes. So why does it even matter?

I wonder, are there any stats on how much interest the movies have garnered for the comic books? I can see a lot of people watching the movies and getting interested in picking up some comics for the same characters. In that case, it would probably benefit Marvel to have as much similarity between the MCU and comic universe as possible, so as not to completely confuse the hell out of potential new customers.

Comic book sales are down... The Movies have no bearing on the comic book sales.

Problem with the comics is there is no jumping point from the movies to a specific issue so when people try to get them they are absolutely confused.

The guys at my store say the hardest customers are the kids, cuz after the movies they really want to get into comics, but don't know where to start. Which is why they think the new avengers are now made up of kiddies.

Or they can make a 5 monthly book line of movie books in its own world. But that makes sense.

Love Secret Wars #2. I'm all-in with the event now after Convergence declined to really try and keep me interested (if you don't already know all of the characters little point in reading any of it it seems because so little/no context is given, stories disjointed). Secret Wars #2 sets up a nice alternate reality setting the way Age of X did, one of my favorite events since Age of Apocalypse.

I thought this was interesting. I'm doing an EdX course about super heroes, and in the first week they asked everyone in the course (thousands of people by the looks of it) who their favorite super hero and super villain is, and then put the responses into a word cloud. They were free-form answers (rather than a drop-down with choices), so they only included the ones that had a sizeble number of votes (spoilered for size):
