Indeed, cleaned original keyboard and then purchased new one, also happens with On Screen Keyboard.

sometimes the mouse driver also fucks up the keyboard, especially if you have legacy ps2 devices, look out for all your HID's (human interface devices) and uninstall those drivers.

It's one of the options in o&oshutup10. Also, if you ever want to configure something in win10, just add tenforums to your search query and you'll probably find it

Start by looking at group policy and there is a way to disable it or at least let you decide when to do the update. Not sure you get that ability if you don't have pro, not sure.

I've since been slowly moving my files to drive to prepare for a factory reset.
Either that or buy a computer, which isn't out of the question
Probably the mouse. Does it have extra buttons? They might be set to the windows key. Try installing the logitech software for it and see if you can mess around with it. Or just try a different mouse

Welp. I hate to break it to you, but there's a curse on you. Someone has a voodoo doll of your computer and is holding the windows key down.
Time to contact a local exorcist (tech repair dude)
But, since the only old thing left is the monitor, might as well connect your PC to your TV via HDMI or something beforehand just in the off-hand chance there's some sort of problem with a potential USB hub in it that's sending bad instructions.

It wouldn't be the cord. If it is the monitor, then it's because it has usb ports/pass through and something is fucked with it. There is no conceivable way that it's the cord or the monitor if it doesn't have USB. At which point I'm serious about getting some in-person tech help because either you're doing something very weird or you're omitting something from what you've said on here about it.
