Lately, I've noticed quite a bit of artifacts when playing hearthstone. I'd just reboot the pc and it would be fine again for a while. With, the new patch, I decided to try out Diablo again and it crashes (screens go completely black, have to reboot). Everything else on the computer seems to be working fine (Visual Studio, browsers, etc). This is what I've tried so far:

1. Re-installed windows
2. Flashed bios
3. Ran memtest
4. Ran video card memtest
5. Re-seated video card

I'm not seeing any real errors in the event log. I'm assuming the problem has to do with the video card because the problems only seem to occur when I'm gaming, but does anything else have an suggestions on what I could try before I go buy one.

Sounds like it is vc related. Usethisand see what temps are reaching on the card while gaming. I'd guess a heat issue. Is the fan/heat sync fairly clean? Fan running?

Fans are running fine. Definitely not a heat issue. It happened when the max temp was only 55 degrees C. When it happened the last time, the music in the background kept playing and it seemed like the PC was still running fine other than the monitors were displaying compete black. I guess I'l start with a new VC and hope that solves the issue.

What card and how old is it?

I had one that was artifacting and I had to RMA it. If you have another card to try (or onboard) you can easily diagnose it to be the card.

Having a problem and looking for some help...

The OSD on my monitor has been broken for a long time but the monitor its self has been working fine.
Last night i installed and started playing EQ project 1999. when I ran the game the first time it turned up the brightness setting somehow, and it will not turn down after many restarts. Its driving me crazy.

How do i turn down monitor brightness in windows 8 without an OSD?

So my QNAS now blinks red/green and I can't get it to work again or even see it on the network. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? I can usually find it if I take out all the HDDs but putting them back in it goes out.

The individual drive lights are green.

I put a SSD in my USB 3.0 enclosure, formatted it, and it works. However, I just noticed that it is not recognized as a "solid state drive". Windows thinks it's a standard hard drive. Is there any way to force an SSD "setting" (if such a thing exists)? I'm assuming I'm not getting max performance out of this thing.

SSDs don't need to be "recognized" by Windows as an SSD to do what they do.

The laws of physics take care of that.

Pretty sure that it being "behind" the USB enclosure will prevent trim from working.

I think you'll have to look for third party utilities. I believe TRIM only works over SATA. IIRC it won't (or at least didn't) work on PCI-E attached drives and therefore likely won't through USB connectivity either.

I have a GTX 680 and today when I started my computer it only detects the monitor plugged into what I'm assuming is the 1 slot (the bottom dvi slot). The other monitor (and tv in the hdmi) both still work. If I swap the two monitors it will use whichever is plugged into that one slot, but it isn't detecting the one plugged into the 2 or my tv.

I have no idea what changed, and I'm at a loss on how to computer with only 1 monitor. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I'm thinking the video card itself might be bad. I had a 460 (I believe that's what it is) that I swapped in and after installing drivers was able to see 2 monitors (I don't think that one can have 3 simultaneously). Swapped back to 680, uninstalled drivers and reinstalled and still just the 1 monitor.

Any suggestions before I go through the pain in the ass of trying to rma?

Anybody experienced with underclocking video cards?

Trying to get a 750Ti to work, keeps hanging when I launch Dead Rising 3.

It might need an RMA but trying to troubleshoot first. Drivers up to date, enough PSU wattage, etc.

Naw, it's anything graphics-intensive.

I got it to work by using MSI Afterburner to underclock it. I probably should just go ahead and RMA it, but bleh.

Like actually underclock from normal specs? Or are you talking one of those pre-overclocked units? I would surely RMA it either way but that's even more fucked if it won't function under 'safe' clock speeds.
