Thats not something I've tested. No idea how the armor formula works. magic/summoner gear has much less armor, or no armor and magic barrier.

one of the good and interesting thing is this game doesn't have touch damage. enemies need to be doing their attack animations to deal damage. (although this might not apply to bosses?)
no touch damage on bosses either but thats a really dangerous place to be. I believe giant slimes slam attack animates faster if you're closer and you're at risk of getting hit multiple times by bosses with projectile volleys since they either fan or circle out from on top of the boss. They have patterns you can learn but its almost always easier to just blast from range. Also there are at least two bosses you have to fight while riding around in a little boat, one optional and one story. The story one isn't too bad but the optional one is cancer aids.

Got the Summoner 3 piece armor set and got the first boss down. Really fun and enjoyable. Only critique I have is the UI can be kinda annoying while playing on Steam Deck. Lots of clicking etc. But my base is a mess so it does not help either.

How do you respawn Bosses?

You will unlock a merchant after defeating the second story boss Ghorm. He sells the respawn items for 500 a piece for the first 4 bosses (3 story, 1 optional).

I regret going warlock in this, I haven't found anything other than the starting pet, and they suuuuck.

Hand cannon is pretty funny though, I guess I am playing pirate now.

Summon is pretty terrible atm, like it was added as an afterthought. There are only 3 summon weapons in the game and the other two dont drop until about the midgame. One of them is just awful and the other I'm pretty sure is still inferior to an upgraded bat tome. Fairly early on you unlock a crafting station that lets you upgrade the item level on gear, so a copper sword upgraded to level 16 (starts at lvl 2) does about the same damage as a solarite sword (starts at lvl 16).

Start as big a garden as you can tolerate, the tin hoe can till/harvest 3x3. Scarlet is when things really take off because the scarlet hoe is 5x5 and you get sprinklers too. One of the final gardening talents gives a chance for anything you plant to be golden quality and gold quality crops cook into the rare version of their food, stacking rare food buffs makes a huge difference on bosses. Also acid, mold water, sea water, lava, and shimmering water have the same fishing table no matter where you are so a single bucket will let you create a fishing pond of the appropriate type in your base.

I picked up 3 copies of this for $11 each and I'm going weather this weekend's heat wave alternating between the pool and playing this with my kids.

I have been playing this rather than Space Marine 2, which I am sure is a fine game but I am completely hooked on terraforming my underground world and killing these pixel bosses. Nothing has grabbed me like this in a long time. I am loving it. It feels like a combination of Bastion and Valheim. The progression is awesome. Now back to mining out this alien underworld.

I’ve got all the copper stuff and have beat the bouncing glob boss. But now I feel kind of stuck?

All the enemies I find now wreck me in two shots and I haven’t found any other upgrades. I have a bit of iron but that’s about it. Also lots of copper chests but no key to open them.

Building train tracks is super expensive too. I started a sawmill and made a lot of planks but nothing uses them? Idk, progression feels clunky at this spot. It was pretty nice up until this point.

the world is set up kindof like multiple layers of pokeballs. so like if you went south, and didn't find iron, before hitting the slime circle. try north. east? try west. past that theres a wall, then once you get past the wall, biomes are quadrants around the circle. (core will tell you which direction next. I don't think it does it for the start though. you CAN use the boss tracker iirc.)

Caliane pretty much covered it, but the further out from the base you are, the more dangerous things get.

So if you hit stuff that's impractical to kill, just go in a circle around the base instead of straight out.

One direction until the Wall comes down is more difficult than the other; its meant to be done in a particular order. Its been a while since I played so I can't remember the biome names off the top of my head but as indicated, if things are too hard in one direction, go the other way and it should be easier. There should be a track where another boss is constantly circling the map and will kill anything he comes across, leaving loot scattered about. Just don't be there when he gets back if the mobs are too tough at this stage. I built rail but then for the most part just ended up skipping over it, as it wasn't as fun or time saving as I thought it would be. Easier to build simple drills in places to get things going and let it spit things out, IIRC. Plenty of guides to get you started in that regard. Game is so much fun.
