So sales in my store are down 70% April to April. Oof. That's what happens when all the tourists are gone

Since the markets are closed im going to derail. Long Island is pretty. The people are generally pretty decent types. Houses have character, not much cookie cutter shit. Its not a liberal enclave. There is a fuckton of money. Like I mean a fuckton. The LI railroad is pretty amazing. It doesn't get a lot of snow and doesn't get crazy cold (due to being an island I suppose). Taxes suck dick. Potholes are beyond words. I mean for what we generate in taxes the roads are 3rd world quality. The public schools are amazing and plentiful. And they should be for what our school tax bill is. And we have Chick-Fil-A now.

Its fucking insane. With property taxes in my village running 13k and up, its insane the number of people I meet who "can't be bothered grieving their property taxes each year", I grieve that shit like clockwork each year and win every time.

For those who don't understand what I mean by grieving your property taxes, Google Nassau County NY Property tax grievance process And history.

Lucky bastard. I haven't won in like 5 years. The valuation is so high most people would sell a house they liked at that price in a heartbeat.

I'm on a platform and they ran out of the good ice cream a couple days ago. We just got a load of groceries and I guess no more good ice cream. So kung flu just got real for me.

People are generally pretty decent types? Heh, heh, heh. You mentioned adding tolls to the parkways. What about the real reason the bridges are so low on the parkways?

So some dumbass can trash their bus/RV/trailer etc on a weekly basis and fuck up traffic for hours?

Those bridges were built that way to keep tourism out and keep Long Island as NIMBY as possible. They were originally the only way on and off the island.

Friend been in the ICU for 18 days now. They told him he's over the "death phase" and want to try experiment treatment because they can't figure out how to make him recover. 33 year old diabetic smoker. So many people have been telling me I'd be fine if I got it.... I'm not so sure

Well, it's a virus that attacks the respiratory system and being a diabetic makes you a target for pretty much every disease on earth. And your friend also smokes. And it still couldn't kill him.

It doesn't matter how healthy or unhealthy you are though. Pneumonia fucking sucks, and you don't want it. That's different than being afraid to die though.

I'm not afraid of dying, but I am afraid of my family losing me. Thankfully I have good health insurance And life insurance

This is reasonable. And maybe this virus will be a wake up call to take your diabetes as seriously as possible. Not saying you wave it off but people in the USA tend to downplay diabetes immensely, and it is a truly fucked up disease. My uncle died in January from diabetes. He had years to change his lifestyle to prevent it, and he just never took it seriously. And now he's dead at 66.

COVID-19 is far less dangerous than your diabetes is. But because it's manageable when you're young (diabetes) people pretend it's not a big deal.

Don't take it seriously? Over eating is the slowest form of suicide; for the people who want to die, just, not that fast...
