Yes because you could lose the bodies. It's as permadeath as EvE then.

Anyway, so then why the smoke and mirrors about how they had to do this now otherwise people wouldn't get to play the class/race they wanted though? That's the point - it's like a Toyota dealer saying they have the last silver Corollas in stock better come down.

That will be part of the ruleset stuff. Like total item loot, including vessels. They may or may not do that yet.

Right now with everything getting to 1 durability with 5 deaths then breaking at some point later in the day.

All they meant was that they didn't want schmucks to get used to archetypes, make this change months later, and have people readjust. Some things, like the current Legionnaire archetype and the formerly planned Stalker, won't exist after the change up.

A metric fuckton of us from EVE are picking this up, think we're up to about 60 of us thus far. Hoping they implement more risk into the game and specifically that "Eternal Kingdoms" won't be safe havens for peoples massive hordes of loot over time.

EQ went from concept to release in under 3 years with a similar team size, less than half the budget, and without an off-the-shelf engine, middleware, and sundry other technological improvements that have streamlined the dev pipeline of online games over the last two decades.

These guys are still in pre-alpha.

At some point incompetence becomes the only reasonable explanation.

Honestly the way EQ1 released back then would be considered beta today. Even months after release it was buggy as fuck and half the "we like keeping secrets and don't want to tell you what stats do!!!" was really just cover for the fact everything was busted.

Not even close to a good comparison. Sandwich combat pve vs. multi-ability cooldown pvp. It took maybe a few days to make a character in EQ. It probably takes weeks to make a character in Crowfall. Crowfall will have a "build your own" base area while EQ didnt have anything like that.

Dumb. For you too call out competence when Crowfall is chugging right along is dumb. Its a ton of work to make a game - especially a pvp MMO of this nature with graphics that meet todays standards.

This is what happens when the risk is on the consumer and not the publisher/person/company. It's why AAA developers should not be allowed to use kickstarter. It's like when Obama gave a ton of federal dollars to green energy companies and the majority of them tanked. It's not their risk they have on the line so no one gives a shit, and it shows in the results.

The reason why people are successful and passionate is because they know they have their own finances on the line, and then it also needs to be about the passion to make a solid, fun, exciting game. Gordon Walton has neither of these two qualities.
