Looks like they dumped some info today about a ton of stuff - Confessor archetype - GW2 style b2p pricing model with some MTX stuff. I'll edit in a summary if flex doesn't beat me to it.

rrr_img_90362.jpg

Hey gang,

This morning, we're submitting a few new items that may be of interest:

- TheConfessorArchetype page -- first of our spell casters.

- As indicated in the same narrative, the the Confessors have a rather... unique view on the origin of the Hunger, and the way it should be dealt with.

- We're including two concepts for this class (for both genders) but unfortunately, no screenshot yet. That's because the Confessor character are still being worked on. (Remember -- Crowfall is still in early development.)

- Additionally, we're passing along our first significant piece of lore; ancient text that details the origin of the Universe, and the machinations of the earliest of Valkyn's children in War of the Gods (Part 1).

- and, lastly, we're unveiling details in ourPricing FAQon how we intend to charge for the game, once it is released.

As always, keep those opinions (and forums posts!) coming...

--- Summary on Pricing ---

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS | PRICING
1. What is the pricing model for Crowfall?
Crowfall is a "buy once, play forever" game. That means that you buy the game once (estimated retail price of USD $50.) and you can play for the life of the game, without ever paying us again!

We also offer an optional VIP membership, details of which are provided below.

2. Can I spend real world currency buy in-game items or currency?
No. The only things that you can buy from ArtCraft:

- VIP membership tickets

- Cosmetic items that do not affect gameplay

- Account level services (such as increasing your number of character slots, or the size and population caps of your personal kingdom).

3. What do I get for buying the game?
You get a digital copy of the game and one active game account, which you can use to connect to the live game service.

Each game account allows for three characters, and one "passive training" slot that you can use to train one of your characters - even when you are offline.

4. Are there any restrictions on those character slots?
Nope. You have access to all the archetypes. You get the same number of character creation points to use to customize your characters. You draw from the same list of advantages, disadvantages, promotion classes and disciplines to advance your character. Your skill list is the same. Your character advances at the same rate.

Our goal is to make the VIP membership entirely optional.

5. What do I get for a VIP membership?
VIP members allows a few additional benefits:

"Behind the scenes" access to the development of the game
VIP members can use passive training for all 3 character slots (not just 1)
Priority access to all game servers
VIP frame / badge on the forums
Discount pricing on any purchases
Other cool (non-balance affecting) benefits as we think of them!

6. How much will VIP membership cost?
The price is currently TBD, but we're expecting it to be around $15 a month.

7. Can I buy resources (stone, iron, wood) from ACE?
No. Once the only way to get resources will be to either earn them by participating in Campaigns, or by trading with other players.

8. Can items and resources be traded between players?
Yes. This the foundation of a player-driven economy.

9. Can I trade VIP membership tickets to other players?
Yes. This means that people who purchase the game, but don't want to pay a monthly subscription, can still become VIP members by providing goods and services to other players.

10. Does this apply to the game world-wide? or just North America?
These answers are for North America only. Other territories will have likely different pricing methods. Details related to other markets will be released at a later time.

They didn't say but I wonder if there will be VIP only servers. That would be ideal with a paid system like they are offering

I'm really glad to see they eliminated the question of, "...will this affect gameplay?", discussion right out of the gate. Good for them.

I'm liking their direction more and more. Can't wait to see what comes of this in 11 days.

As of today, they still have my support.

Well I mean VIP tickets are player tradable in this case which removes any resulting unfairness. As it does in other games.

The most power based on VIP status I can see is having 2 additional passive training queues for alts. But since I never roll alts in any game I don't have much room to speak on that topic.

I wonder what personal kingdom means. I doubt this is the case but if you have to pay $5 for every person after 20 to add to your guild that would be funny.

If personal kingdoms mean some instanced and persistent world that builds as you participate in campaigns and has NPCs that are within a population cap that'd be weird.

My first SB character was a confessor. Really liked it until they started nerfing me to get to channelers for some reason. Afterward, confessors blew hard and channelers were still gods. That's when I quit.

EK = Eternal Kingdom - Player housing world. From what I can tell doesn't actually impact anything. Might be for more vendor slots or something so you can sell stuff that you get from carry-over campaigns.

That's just speculation from me though.

If it's anything like the WoW garrisons paying cash to increase population and city size offers in-game power to some degree by improving the players passive wealth generation.

I'd be pretty pissed if that's what EK is. It'd be akin to selling a guaranteed large farm plot for real money in Archeage.

Not a big fan of being able to trade VIP to other players for in game currency. Basically makes it ok to buy in game currency with $.

Really depends on what the in game currency provides, a lot of the stuff seems to be player crafted. GW2, Eve, and Wildstar all have this functionality and it has been successful to some degree.

Pretty neat being able to buy a subscription for the work you put into the game.

All speculation at this point really.

I said wut at this too. Didn't they mention or show a piece of art that the outer "rings" of the worlds has some kind of permanent structure to it. I would assume this would of been some kind of guild/player housing "realm".

My limited understanding is that Personal Kingdoms are on the Eternal Kingdom world which acts like a persistant nexus inbetween the other less permanent worlds.

Few other things:

"Each game account allows for three characters, and one "passive training" slot that you can use to train one of your characters - even when you are offline."

This caught my attention. I guess that's basically confirmation that they are doing EVE like training, at least to some degree. No more macro'ing skills in game which is a great sign.

They confirmed this like 2 weeks ago. There is still going to be some 'active' skill training too, we just don't know to what extent.

That's kind of what I was getting at. We don't know how much of either is going to be in there. I know we've heard of both but this little feature makes me think that it will be more extensive than I originally thought.

Caught my eye. Was disappointed when I read what it was actually about. But yeah these forums need some work.

Thx Vit for throwing up some of the pics and the summary info, beat me to it. <3

It was said that "most" of ones skill training needs will be handled via the passive training, as in the majority.

With that said I'm really glad to see them go this route financially, regarding their payment option. It's vaguely similar to APB: Reloaded's model (i.e. VIP membership, got sucked into buying that every time), which I liked. The $50 price tag of buy2play will encourage people to donate at least $50 in a crowdfunding campaign, as far as the VIP cash, idk if they're going for a spin-off of PLEX or something but if is an in-game item and is destructible I'm down. Overall the pricing faq is confidence inspiring.

Female Confessor, would bang.
