I evaluate what I played and paid for, not a promise of what it could be. I even said I'm hoping he will turn it around...
Yeah I'm genuinely asking the question dude. Not trying to defend the game as I haven't bought it purely because you guys are saying wait a bit.

Yeah it's still in alpha at the moment. Sorry I thought you were being snippy with the usual "its an alpha, you cant say anything negative" that people usualy say :\

The engine is pretty good, game is smooth, movement/controls/combat feel pretty good altho the combat on my warrior is a tiny bit clunky and feels weak compared to the other classes. I imagine there hasn't been much balancing.

As for the game in its current state, all it is is killing monsters, trying to capture pets, leveling up, and fiddling with some items. It feels rather empty after you've done 2-3 dungeons in the current state. I feel like you walk around for hours in unpopulated ares sprinkled with a very few monsters to try and reach either a town or a dungeon. It's fun at first cause you get to explore a new world but it becomes tedious and grindy pretty fast.

I played it with a couple friends for 8~ hours and we basicaly decided to shelf it until more content is added cause the last 2-3 hours we felt like we were just running through landscapes without anything at all happening. I'd say I would've stopped playing after an hour or two if I was playing it solo. The main draw was having friends with my pals doing ridiculous things

edit: haha point made about people getting butthurt, someone named derpa -1internet'd me with "cant evaluate an alpha". Sad.

I finally was able to buy the game and it's pretty cool so far. I dig exploring in any game so I am enjoying it so far. I tried kiting an Ogre and got my ass handed to me lmao but I can't see what this game turns into.

I hope that they add an incentive to attacking red enemies, +10-15 exp for killing a skull bull at level 5 was a bit lame

.

I really wish they would support modding, it would just make the game explode with content.

I think with a group of friends and being able to either ride/glide around to get to places faster it will make the game fun for awhile, but for now it is pretty bare.

Though there is lots of potential.

Hopefully the cash he got from the initial offering is enough for him and his wife to quit their jobs and work on it full time. It's taken a couple of years of part time effort to get this far with most of that him doing it on his own and his wife only joining a couple of months ago I believe. Full time dev should see it trucking along so long as he doesn't go all notch and just blow it on watches and shitty conventions

I really like how this game "feels". I mean, it kind of reminds me of WoW in that it is very responsive in everything you do: moving, jumping, turning, attacking...it all feels very fluid and natural. To me, that's one of the most important parts of any action game. I'm happy that the developers focused on getting these core aspects of the game right before worrying about extra content.

With such a solid base, I really look forward to what's going to be added content-wise in the future.

Exactly how I feel about the engine. everything feels nice, looks nice, they just need to build on it. Most of the people I've played with all agree on that point which is a nice building block!

If you go to their website and see what is "planned" on the cubeworld page, it looks promising but I'm not sure only 2 of them will manage to pull all of that off, it's a pretty tall order.

Seed: 13375 is where you can get a yellow lamp off a vendor in the closest city. It makes night time pretty tolerable.

the most useful ones are the +1-+4 enemy ones. Killing that shit is far better than messing with the ridiculous hp bosses, as far as getting drops goes.
QFT - I found an island with a castle full of +4 orcs and a boss, every spawn I get a couple yellows and many purple/blue items... it's pretty neat. I just wish that long swords weren't so damn rare.

Really wanted to give these guys 20 bucks but they won't let me(still can't register), ended up grabbing the "demo" and while the game is amazing I agree with others it needs a lot more love before it will stay fun for more than a few hours. Still haven't played Minecraft but can't help but think this game needs the ability to dig tunnels and such, even if they were limited to a certain area and needed a mining skill high enough to find the starting points it would be worth it.

Game shines a lot more with friends and just playing for fun. I enjoy this more than Marvel Heroes which has goals and more abilities, but this is more random and just easy to laugh at with friends.

I'm playing this on my old, shitty laptop and I've run into kind of an amusing thing in the lava biome. It seems like I can run farther and faster than the game can load, so if I run in a straight line for more than about 30 seconds I catch up to the loading, which looks like this dark, reddish fog. When I reach the end of it it begins to envelope my character from all sides and when it touches me I get the blue "Please wait, loading" screen for 15 - 20 seconds until it can load everything around me. It's like a horror movie.

What's really frustrating is the basic code seems to be there. Currently you can use bombs to destroy rocks all over the world so it wouldn't be that much of a jump to enable full block destruction.

Bosses are too hard, I can just about get a blue one down to 1/3 health as a tank warrior.

The worst thing about this game is health regen, you shouldn't have to sit eating pumpkins for minutes IRL time to heal. Even vanilla WoW wasn't this bad.

Yeah, I gave up playing anything but a water mage solo for now. Consumables are just too much of a hassle. If you insist on playing another class, stick to potions, ginseng soup, and the mushroom+onion food for your healing.

I don't think bosses are too hard, they just need to scale the hp based on the number of players. Even with my legendary wand (188% weapon rating) it takes forever to kill a blue con boss. I usually only bother killing +2 to +4 humanoid mobs now and ignore bosses unless it's a mage that's likely to drop me some useable loot.

Yes bosses can be a pain, especially wizard and ranger versions because its super hard to dodge their attacks. Think I've had a fight take around 25 min to complete non stop before, I ended up just pulling him to a rock to wall tank it and run from his spells while healing. Levels and gear do help though if you are having trouble (grindy grind).

Agreed on health but again levels help, you eventually get like +800 hp soups and stuff. That said I usually just let something kill me to speed it up.

It's kind of funny but I think that Cube Worlds success vindicates the notion that classic EQ could carve itself a successful niche if it were released new today. They are essentially the same concept (plop you down in a big world and go adventuring with little to no help) except that the RvR ratio between the two is wildly different. Cube World death is a free heal while in EQ it could be a waste of an evening depending on the group.

WTB niche MMOs.

I'm happy with it being harsh but there has to be a way around it, like being able to craft functional food early with a little effort or an actual upgrade/skill path to beat bosses at the appropriate level.
