Digital Foundry: Hands-on with Dark Souls 2 on PS4 Eurogamer.net

I wish they had done a D3 or Bayo move and made the remaster include Dark Souls 1. I never finished it on my PC (only play once every few months, get stuck and frustrated and alt-f4) and wouldn't mind replaying from the start on ps4.

Visuals look much better now on PS4 version, pop the videos in that article on youtube and set rez to 1080p really noticeable, even for someone like me who rarely sees the difference.

I think the remaster is coming out on PC too, may end up buying that one when it drops on sale since with Bloodborne and Hardline I doubt i'll be playing any DS2 on console anytime soon

PC version will have DX11 features, which theoretically means much better visuals over the DX9 version.

Same - paused on the DLC (was busy with PS4 stuff at the time - by the time I was slowing down PS4 version was announced) - so will double dip for sure here. (Although maybe delayed - Bloodborne overlap might slow my purchase)

So it's just DS2 getting the update? For some reason I thought DS1 was getting ported as well. Maybe I'm thinking of Metro Redux.

Bummer. Last I looked DSFix wasn't working in win 8.1 or some combo or another and I couldn't get 60fps mode to work. I'm kind of itching to play but I'm waiting for the new version anyway since I haven't done any of the DS2 DLC.

Bloodborne before long anyway, but maybe I can see if DSFix is working again and dick around in DS1. I only played it to like, NG++++++, heh.

It makes the later zones pretty tough. Some places you'll get souls from mobs falling off stuff quite a bit (i.e.: early Sen's Fortress). Farming souls (not that you have to on PC) is much faster since everything comes to you.

So all the Bloodborne talk got me to revisit DS1 last night. After 1.5+ years stuck in Anor Londo, and perhaps 5 distinct evenings of attempts spread across that time period, I finally got Ornstein and Smough killed, first try for this evening of attempts. That felt good.

But, since it's been so long, I really forgot a bunch of the game. I talked to Boobs McGee, got my Lordvessel, and spoke with the weird Frampt guy, who took me below to some room with a locked door and a bonfire but-not-bonfire thinger. So I can warp around now, and three orange gates (of which I remember none) have apparently disappeared? What do I do at this point?

Also what's with Firelink Shrine bonfire not working anymore? Someone is missing? I ported there out of random chance (had no idea i'd need to talk to Frampt), and was annoyed it wasn't working, but I guess the one Frampt takes me to replaces that one? Shrug

Halp?

Head back to Anor Londo main bonfire. When you leave the room take a left and go into the room with the two Sentinel dudes and the mimic. Take a right out of the room and go up the path. Youlll be on your way to Seath!

As for the bonfire, if you didnt kill the golden dude sitting by the ledge below i think my friend told me he kills the old lady behind the bars who is the firekeeper for Firelink Shrine and makes it unusable

That's the bonfire just past the entrance from Sen's, right? Before you go across and fight the Gargoyle? Can I warp there, or do I have to fight my way back across from the bonfire near O&S?

Its the first one you encounter in the city after doing Sens. So if you are coming from Sens just run straight and go the only way you can

Yep, the Firekeeper of Firelink Shrine has been murdered. Go to the burnt-out bonfire, then go down the stairs (as if you were going to New Londo Ruins, but you're not actually going to New Londo Ruins). On the first landing, there should be a barred cave built into the wall and you should see a corpse. Take the Black Eye Orb from the corpse then go to Anor Londo, O&S bonfire. Backtrack out the main doors and you will get a message that the Black Eye Orb is twitching. Use it, and get ready for a tough encounter.

Yeah, the fight with those kids was pretty rough. I ended up getting a couple of "lucky" parries on the main guy and ruined his day.

I shot the shot out if the mage with the dragon horn bow and the archer ring so he was dead before they all got to me then killed the main guy pretty easy.
