Prenerf MLGS was a beast, but there's nothing wrong with using a claymore. I've done 5 playthroughs on 3 characters, and I always end up going back to it

Claymore is tough to beat. Mastodon is better if you're heavy str, but otherwise you're looking at spending a bunch of dragon bone or twinkling on black knight greatsword (which has weird shitty requirements) or defenders greatsword (if you're faith). Murakomo is more damage, but the attacks feel a lot slower and the heavy attack is much shittier.

Anyone foolish enough to not have gotten this, $38 or $39 (I forget if it's $38 or $38.99 - sue me) on PSN this week.

Does anyone know how the Shrine of Winter works? I had to beat the four great soul bosses this time around for the NG+ soul drops but would like to just bum rush my way to the Castle on NG++ so I can buy the spells I need (I know I'll need a Fragrant Branch to unlock the path). I'm just under 7 million soul memory if that matters.
The amount of souls needed to unlock the shrine need to be acquired during the play through that you're in. For example, if you start NG+ with 2.5M souls, you need to hit 4.5M before it will open. It's 1M on the first play through and +1M for each subsequent play.

Just kill the bosses, way faster.

No, you do lose all keys and key related items, and all Fragrant branches of yore you might still have become unusable until you find a new one

Enemies hit harder and there are a bunch of new enemies (a LOT of red phantoms some of which respawn after being killed and some that don't). Some of the bosses have new mechanics but I just killed the Tomb Guardian guy and the only one that really sticks out is the Lost Sinner. With that being said, enemies in NG+ seem MUCH more aggressive than in NG. The Four Great Soul bosses also drop an additional Great Soul which corresponds with a Soul from the first Dark Souls (Lost Sinner drops Old Witch's Soul and Freja drops Paledrake Soul) which can be turned in for new spells or weapons.

With all of that being said though, NG+ is actually a lot easier than NG. You go in already fairly strong and geared up. While there are new enemies, for the most part, you already know where all the threats are.

The one thing to keep in mind though is that if you've been relying on help to kill bosses, you're likely to be disappointed. The only people eligible for summons are those playing in NG+ as well so that really cuts down the number of summons available.

plz I play this game like a true bro, I have never and will never use coop on a boss. I haven't even been human since the first 3 minutes of the game.

That's fine. Personally I've killed every boss solo and with groups. Because I'm going for the platinum trophy I'm looking for the path of least resistance and some fights are just drastically easier with someone to hold the boss's attention while I Soul Spear it's ass off. I also think some bosses (like the Ruin Sentinels) are actually harder with a group.

Also keep in mind, if you want to Platinum the game (assuming PS3), you need to engage in jolly cooperation for the Sunlight Spear Miracle. It takes 30 Medals to rank up for the Miracle and it's best done on NG when there's more co-op going on. Medals carry over but I don't believe that rank does so if you turn in 10 medals to rank up and then finish NG, you'll have to start over again. I think Sunlight Medals can be farmed but the drop rate is so low to not be practical.

That's alright, once I had a dream I would platinum this and decided against it. Backlog is too big.

This is definitely game of the year for me. I only have from the shrine of amana until the end left.. probably skipping some of the last few optional bosses.

They're also not complete idiots, if people demand more content and are willing to give you money. Why would you not change your mind.
They already said they would do it if it was demanded, which it highly was lol

The fact that they're adding MOVING POISON STATUES makes me want to slap them haha, fuuck those things.

Do you think they'd add more skeletons or something?

1st. DLC announced:

DARK SOULS ?.? CROWN OF THE SUNKEN KING ?f-?f*?f??f??,??f??f??~*?f???????E3 2014??' - YouTube

Kinda odd, considered i remember that FROM Dev at last E3 actually said they won't do DLCs. Anyways, the DLC is called Episode 1, so there is more to come, most likely.
From reddit/pulled from facebook.

DARK SOULS II IS BESTOWED ADDITIONAL CHAPTERS WITH THE LOST CROWNS DLC TRILOGY
Three new DLC chapters known as The Lost Crowns trilogy will take you through entirely original areas to face a slew of unknown enemies, overcome diabolic challenges, and take-on fearsome bosses.

DLC of Crown of the Sunken King will be available in Europe and Australasia on July, 22, 2014 for PC and Xbox / July 23 for PlayStation 3
DLC of Crown of the Old Iron King is scheduled for August 26, 2014 for PC and Xbox / August 27 for PlayStation 3
DLC of Crown of the Ivory King will conclude the trilogy on September 23, 2014 for PC and Xbox / September 24 for PlayStation 3

A Season Pass program is also available for the entire The Lost Crowns trilogy via Steam for PC and PlayStation Network for PS3 from today.
Crown of the Sunken King, the first chapter in the trilogy, sends you on a journey to reclaim the crowns that Drangleic's King Vendrick once owned.
Crown of the Sunken King features an entirely different world within the DARK SOULS II universe, where stepped pyramids span a vast underground cavern. It is said that one of the ancient crowns lay buried deep within these dark caverns; but surely such a valued item cannot sit unguarded.
Players that seek adversity and glory will be rewarded with a crown that holds the strength of lords from times long past.

FROM at first said that they wouldn't do (actually, "weren't planning") DLC but that they would consider it if the demand was there. Obviously it is :p

Well, if that release schedule is true then good on them. One a month for three months? Sure, I'll kick them $25.

I'm probably going to have to start up another character though, my last one is over-levelled to hell and back.

I wouldn't hate those fucking poison statues as much if poison resist actually did jack shit. Or any of the resists for that matter. When you can't tell the difference between 50 and 400+ there's something wrong.
