If it's not in english the menus will be translated day one. American version comes out April 12th

Dark souls isn't a game where you need english.

I wonder if Twitch is going to allow everyone to start streaming the Japan release. That's going to make everyone so damn salty if that is the case.

if anyone wants to speculate lore/story/locations/anything DS3

My take on it, is that there is some great fire fading, and the 5 Lords of Cinder need to be called back to the Firelink Shrine, to help rekindle the flame. One Lord is already there, but 4 went rogue. I'm guessing those 4 got corrupted by the Darkness. You see the Darkness in the tutorial boss fight after you pull the sword out of the first boss (its the stuff on his back, and it's what makes him go bonkers during his second phase).

They went more with a Demon Souls Nexus for the hub world, which is kind of lame. I was hoping for a DS1 linked world. You basically teleport to certain areas of the world from the Firelink Shrine.

From the two videos I watched, no word of Gwyn but I wouldn't be surprised if he is referenced later.

Maybe your character becomes one of the Lords of Cinder at the end of the game? Or maybe the Darkness will win? Miyazaki said with this being the final Souls game, a theme would finally be resolved and I'm guessing it has to do with either relighting the fire, or leaving the world to darkness.

Watched about 20 minutes of footage, up to the first boss of the High Wall. Something I'm really not okay with:

The enemies corrupted by "darkness" or whatever take up so much room on the screen that you can't really see the mob you're fighting underneath them. I was watching a play through where the player was fighting the tutorial boss with a knife and it was absolute bullcrap. He basically couldn't see his character or the boss he was fighting when getting in melee range because the darkness dog head or whatever was so freaking big. They really need to make those things smaller.

I have over 1,500 hours clocked on DS2. Anyone else up there? PvP addict :p

e; I am digging their hybrid starting classes - Assassin with sorcery and fencing, etc. are a cool touch. Pyro will probably still wreck everything though.

PvP is an odd thing in the souls series for me. I love the rush but am really bad at it. Try to do my play throughs as human and snag the dried finger as early as I can to encourage encounters to liven it up and get better but I just can't figure out the lag factor. It seems like I've got the perfect set up for the kill; I see my weapon go clear through them and before my swing animation is done I'm getting back stabbed followed by the come at me bro animation. It seemed a little better in the network test from last year at least compared to 1 and 2 but you could only be invaded if you were grouped so I didn't have any 1v1 encounters.

I don't mind the invasion thing, but just regular pvp not that into.

Dark Souls 2 by far has the best PVP with the arenas, and shit.

It's like a really bad 3D fighter to me.

Between Steam, PS3, and PS4 versions I bet I have close to that many hours. I've played an absurd amount of the game as I did DS1. Kalameet is still my favorite boss fight out of all the games.

From the videos, it looks like combat is more akin to the 1st Dark Souls. Which isn't a bad thing. Shields are obviously in play again as well. I liked the fast paced combat style of Bloodborne, but missed the combat style of Dark Souls as well. Dark Souls 2 can suck a fat one. I still haven't played through hardly any of it.

I tried to play it. I have about 4-5 hours into it. I couldn't get into the degradation of weapons and the bosses weren't that great. I heard Scholars of the First Sin was better once you reach that content, but I'll be fucked if I can get that far to reach that content anyway. Dark Souls 2 sucked ass. Most agree. It was also made by the B team.

I have higher hopes for Dark Souls 3 - but this is the last Dark Souls. So... It better be good. Would like to go out with a bang.

I would edit that to say Dark Souls 2 wasn't as good as the other games in the series. "Dark Souls 2 sucked ass. Most agree. It was also made by the B team" makes it sound like Assassins Creed Unity bad. Only way I would list Dark Souls 2 as a bad game would be comparing it to other souls games.

The series has exploration based risk vs reward done better than any other game or franchise.

Pursuer first go round was awesome. SOme of the bosses are terrible, but there are plenty of good ones

I'd give it another shot. It's still a good game. Worst souls game? Sure. Better than 95% of every other game? Absolutely.

I look forward to meaninglessly torturing myself over which class to play, knowing full well that it will ultimately make no difference to more than .0025% of the total time I will actually play DS3.
