Yeah, Pontif and onwards was where I faced my first problems.

Btw, wtf is up with mimic to real chest ratio in this game? Feels like there are way more mimics this game. Was only a handful of mimics in dark souls.

Pontiff wasn't too bad, more annoying than anything. It was like fighting a Bloodborne boss with Dark Souls' mechanics.

Two of his pets at the same time a bit later on though? Fuck that shit. I died to them more than all bosses combined and it's not even a boss fight.

Edit: Also, DkS3 ~= BB > Demon >>>>> DkS1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> DkS2.

Lol, took more than two attempts. Basically it took me until I was able to quell the instinctual urge to run like hell when he summoned his clone, because it looked somewhat like a charge attack. Once I realized I could kill the clone before it could move, the fight wasn't too bad.

He was the toughest thus far, but I still haven't encountered this game's O&S or its Fume (or Smelter if comparing vanilla to vanilla) or its Logarius though.

Started my second play thru which is of course a level locked PvP alt

Couple things:
Pyro spell damage is garbo for PvP until way later. Then you can one shot some people with optimal setup and the + damage on full HP ring (yeah works on spells). Fallen knight is also high fire resist and is real popular.

The one handed sword spams did more damage than quite a few weapons even when two handed. Seriously tho.

Invading against 3 you really should try to use each pack of mobs/traps to your advantage and work them down and black crystal out if you get to the end of the level and are out of estus. Intentionally triggering traps on people does insane damage too. Just be patient and work em down and black crystal bail if you run out of options. If you did your job right they will all go in hobbling to the boss for the area. Also when invading with red eye, clear out the whole area of monsters so you can recover souls in case of a fail (or just do not even care about your gained souls during invading seshes). You should also be leery of areas completely cleared of mobs, this is the oldest trick in the book and almost always a clear sign of some 3 man chameleon gank waiting or lynch mob otherwise.

The one bug they most direly need to fix is the Gumby chars sliding around and not showing any animation in multiplayer. How the fuck are you supposed to land parries or... yeah somehow fix dis. I'm sure it is #1 on their radar and have faith.

Overall, the game was a dream come true and can't wait for the DLC.

I felt he was the game's Logarius. Except you're dealing with Dark Souls parry mechanics which are much harder to time--even using the parrying dagger offhand that comes with Farron Greatsword which should have a much larger window than a shield--than BB's gun-parries. I gave up after three failed runs that drained all my estus with only one successful parry ever and switched to hugging his nuts with a katana buffed with gold pine resin and killed him with mostly R2's.

That was actually pretty much the end of my Farron GS usage, period. Love the L1 moveset, but the damage (and even worse, dmg/end ratio) just doesn't keep up with straight swords or katanas. UGS needed to be buffed just as badly as plain GS did, but for now I see no point in bothering with heavy weapons.

Made it 20 hours in before I saw a screenshot where someone had +1 next to their flask. If anyone wants a challenge the game is much harder when your flask only heals 25% of your lol...

Loving the game though, at the snow town and doin doin.

Is the lizard boss on the bridge a one chance only kill? He's not respawned since i ran the hell away from him

You mean the two big outrider dog/demons in the well are down those stairs? If so, fuck that shit. I died literally 15+ times on that, and only got through it by somehow killing one, spawning back and realizing that it stayed dead and killing the other. That is literally the toughest fight in the game, for me anyways.

Why I love this game #2 - every fight is different for everyone. Someone told me Aldritch was "impossible" and I 1 shot that focker, then I was told Dancer is super easy and I died 4 times in stage 2 by being really impatient

Noticed that too but haven't found a way to upgrade it yet. Up to the Farren swamp boss, is it still too early in the game or have I missed something? Flask has 10 charges so I have been finding plenty shards, doesn't help as much when I need to chug 3 to fill my health completely though.

You use the bone shard on the firelink bonfire to upgrade flask healing amount.

If you aren't finding any, you aren't being remotely thorough enough, as there is at least one in each zone up to the Abyss Watchers. And more after. I have like +7 flasks and 12 of the things right now in Irithyll Dungeon/Smoldering Lake time frame in the game's progression.

You need to burn Undead Bone Shards in the Firelink bonfire.

Oh, and the best advice I can give anyone playing this game is slow down. Take it easier. Make sure you really have hit all the nooks and crannies of a zone and talked to all the NPCs at Firelink multiple times and cleared out anything that they might need or want you to do, before killing any bosses after the first real boss of the game.

You will miss a lot of really critical shit if you do.

Yeah I picked up a few of those shards and just now found out that's what they're used for. I thinK I was in a rush from being shot at by a giant to notice what I picked up.

Yeah I'm finding it is way more effective to just go with smaller weapons this time around. Went and farmed up a BKGA, got the yhorm machete and bought a couple other heavier weapons and really, nothing feels better than just sticking with my heavy infused Dark Sword. Damage is pretty damn good way easier to recover after a swing if i need to react to something.

Derp... yeah I deff have a few of those, thanks for the heads up.

Havent been reading wikis, theres a few things in my inventory that I have no clue what they do. Being my first From game I am doing my best to play completely blind and clueless. I have been pretty thorough exploring so far, but I already fucked up by killing Yoel like a noob =/

I'll be more of a completionist on my second playthrough.

Yeah, that's the fight I'm talking about. You can split them easily enough but I was stubborn and wanted to beat them "legit". Dumb idea, in hindsight.

One thing I didn't learn until the time I finally won is that they have a Bloodborne-style 'hit them right in the nose and they get knocked the fuck out' mechanic. (The giant cursed spiders are the same, btw.) I think I struggled with it more than anything because the one on the bridge is susceptible to bleed and the ones in Anor Londo are not. I was using a washing pole and even with rouge on it I still couldn't bleed them out.

Anyway, if anyone else is struggling on this and doesn't mind cheesing it a bit all you have to do is stay in the small area near the ladder and shoot one of them with a bow. The second one doesn't aggro until you cross the invisible line in the floor.

I've seen people say Yhorm is the easiest boss in any From game, but I died to him 3 times before finally getting it down. In my defense I had been playing the whole game without ever using a weapon art, so learning how the mechanics of that work while fighting a boss wasn't exactly ideal. I also suspect he was buffed in the new calibration because
people say that Siegward can practically solo him, but in my game Siegward was dead in the amount of time it took me to run, pick up, and equip the Storm Ruler.

I also didn't know that once you charge the art you can release L2 to make dodging easier until after I'd beaten the boss.

Dead again also doesn't work as a phantom. It casts but doesn't blow up the corpses.

Probably intentional but I hope its a bug

Will have to try blowing up invaders with it. Hopefully that at least works.

I thought I was safe from that thing when I ran my ass off passed the barrier. I found the first bonfire and got to the lake area and.... "OH HELLO!" RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
