I just finished updating my gaming rig which was more or less a new build. I will be taking my old CPU/Motherboard/CPU Cooler/RAM/Case and adding a new GPU to it to use as my AutoCAD/PS/etc rig at work.

Here's the new build, I'll post a picture once I finish OCing and tidy up the wiring:Intel Core i7-4790K, EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti, Corsair Air 540 - System Build - PCPartPicker

Couple notes.
1) This was my first time using a closed loop cooler (or any water cooling for that matter). Set up was actually easier than the EVOs or Noctua 14's I've worked with.
2) I plan on SLI in the future hence the (currently) irrational PSU.
3) This is the second time I've built using a Corsair Air 540 case. God damn do I love them.
4) I decided to go with a Gigabyte motherboard this time around. So far so good. My only complaint is that they have no system fan/powers at the top of the motherboard other than the CPU fans which is pretty stupid. Other than that it seems good so far.

Im slowly becoming disillusioned with SLI, between Watch Dogs launching in a state where SLI actually hurt performance to Wolfenstein still having zero SLI support a month after release, I don't think ill SLI/Crossfire again in the future. I went the route of buying a new card and then adding SLI a year or so later with a second discounted card, but I think my strategy from now on will just be to sell my old card for whatever I can get and then buy the beefiest single card I can get on my budget.

I'm fine with a single card for now. I've heard some horror stories lately about SLI as well. Seems like SLI has gone from good to bad to good to bad off and on in the past. I currently run 1920x1200 which the 780 Ti is probably pretty damn overkill for. I run every game at Ultra settings though which is nice and it doesn't give me any fits.

Anywho, I've been working on OC'ing the i7-4790k here this morning. I've obviously not done any long term tests to confirm stability but so far 4.8 Ghz is easily achievable. As soon as I get the 4.9 I start getting BSODs. I'm happy with 4.8 and it is about on track with what most others are getting but it would be nice to get that next step. I've hit my personal comfort level of where the vcore is at so I'll stil with 4.8 for now I guess.

One thing I'm happy about is how much cooler these chips run. Granted I now have water cooling on the 4790k, my 4770k at 4.2-4.3 would run 80-90C with a Noctua NH-D14 (which is no slouch of a cooler). I've got the 4790k at 4.8 and I've yet to crack 70 C. That is a pretty huge drop-off.

Some pics. Not the prettiest wiring job but I just want to start abusing this thing. Still waiting for the 2400 RAM to arrive so I am using my 1600 in the mean time. I'll need to get a dust filter for the front. As you can see I have the radiator mounted on the front in a push/pull using the Noctua's (pushing) and AF120's (pulling) - definitely going to need a dust filter there or that radiator is going to get fucked over quick. Two more AF120s on the top and back for exhaust. I'm going to get two 90mm to fit on the PSU/SSD/Wiring side and put those in exhaust.

Lots of color clash but my computer is not a fashion statement. It is rather hidden and I never look at the inside so I really could give a rats ass.

Nice build, I really like that square-ish case rather than the traditional tall, rectangular cases that are more the norm. All a case does as it gets taller is make it harder to get your PSU cords to various components that are further away. I'd happily take a bit more width over height in my next case.

Thanks. I love this case. Like I mentioned it is the second one I've used. I would not recommend buying it if you have a ton of hard drives unless you have a plan ahead of time of where to put them all. If you do plan ahead then it is still a great case.

Honestly, that looks very fucking sweet. I'm tempted to getting that case after seeing what it looks like. I agree with joeboo: I don't get how people can make good cable management when the towers get taller and taller. My cables can barely reach their destinations and I'm not really about putting extension cables on it, haha.

70C is underload. So running Prime95, XTU, or IBT. After running it for a day or two now the highest I've had it hit was 72C.

Idle temps are 24-33ish.

I just ran BF4 for about 15 minutes and recorded the CPU and GPU temps. Average temp for all 4 cores was 46~C. Highest was 54, Lowest 36. GPU more or less stayed around 75-76 after 3-4 minutes. Those are quite healthy numbers.

That's pretty nice. I didn't catch which cooler you went with, but I've had an H100i on my 3570K for about 18 months now and I love it. Super quiet(I did replace the stock radiator fans with quieter fans, but I use 4 instead of just 2, in a push/pull config on both sides of the radiator). I run my 3570k at 4.8ghz, and it idles in the low 20s, around 20-22 degrees C, and at max load under prime 95 will creep into the mid 70s, I think 75-76 degrees C is the highest I've ever seen. Under normal multi-hour gaming sessions, it never even cracks 70, its always in the 66-68ish range at max.

It honestly may not cool a whole lot better than a really good air-cooler, but the complete lack of sound is what is really nice. I've had some air-cooled heatsinks in the past that sound something like a mini-jet engine when their fans rev up to 100% RPM. After some trial and error, I figured out that my radiator fans never have to go above 50% RPM threshold to keep my CPU at max cooling potential, and that's damn nice.

I heard that as well and was going back and forth on the NZXT Kraken X60 and the Corsair H110 before I pulled the trigger on the H110. Varying reviews said the X60 on silent mode was pretty quiet but the H110 wasn't much louder. However, the H110 cooled a bit better unless you turned the X60 onto Extreme mode and then the X60 sounded like an airplane taking off.

I haven't heard the X60 but with my setup the H110 isn't egregiously loud. Keep in mind I have swapped out the stock fans for two Noctua's pushing and two Corsair AF120 pulling on the radiator. I can definitely hear my case if I don't have my headset on, but I always have my G930 headphones on at my computer which cancel out a decent chunk of noise.

So a TLDR answer from me would be that the H110 isn't dead quiet but it isn't terribly loud. I would recommend it. If you want dead silence just replace the stock fans (like I did).

I bought 4 of these to throw on my H100i to cool the radiator
Enermax T.B.SILENCE 120MM Blue LED Twister Case Fan - Newegg.com

They're really quiet, and if you have the room in your case to actually use 4(2 on each side of the radiator), you never have to run them anywhere close to 100% RPM, so they're damn near silent unless you're within a foot of the case, then you might hear it. Having the room to do that though pretty much requires a full tower case though(I use the Cooler Master HAF 32COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced RC-932-KKN5-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Newegg.com)
