Interesting, I'm kind of fed up dealing with nvidia and SLI. The experiment was fun but between certain games / apps not supporting it and every other driver release seemingly breaking the korean monitors. Even if it really isn't, it just feels like a hassle. Thinking about selling my two 670s and just picking up a bigger single card (not that the 7950 I'd necessarily that card, just got me thinking).
SLI isn't just a pain in the but with Nvidia, Crossfire on ATI has the exact same issues(if not more). I had 2 crossfired ATI 4870s for a couple years, and I was so happy to go back to a single Nvidia card last year with my 660Ti.

I wouldn't judge Nvida vs AMD based on multi-card setups, they are both a pain in the ass and not really reflective of the quality of their cards as a whole, if you are using just one.

Got tired of all the hassles of windows at the moment, I decided to try out os x mountain lion as they just added haswell support in the hackintosh community. Works fantastic on my 4770k MSI rig.

Just curious, but what "hassles of windows"? I've been using Windows since 3.0 on my 386, and in my opinion Windows has never been easier to use and more bug-free than it is right now. Although, I am on Win 7, I'm not upgrading to 8. I bet I haven't even rebooted my Win 7 PC in months.

Gaming on Windows is fine, so long as you have hardware with well-written vendor provided drivers, keep your computer malware/shovelware free, don't have a complicated networking setup, and god help you if you try to install printer software something like that.

No complaints on win 7, its mainly 8. Its just...not right. Ive been having instability issues and random annoyances. Mainly, try pressing back on an imgur link in reddit. It takes like 15+ clicks. In safari, one click. WiDi doesn't work well, it has issues with usb 3.0 thumbdrives made from corsair, network shares are a fucking bitch. (something to do with users and users from winlive having different permissions)

ITs just a clusterfuck. ITs bad.

I still have it for gaming, but my regular computer use is going to be on osx until further notice.

Well...
At the very last minute when plugging the USB 3.0 case connector in one of the pins on the motherboard bent. One of the ports doesn't work now, I RMAed the board and hopefully I will get a new one. A little too depressed about it to post pictures and talk about the build, I'll do that when (hopefully) the new board arrives.

I have absolutely 0 problems with Windows 8, are you sure those issues are caused by 8?

I might get Windows 7, since apparently MS left a back door for the NSA in 8.

If you are buying a Windows OS I recommend 8, it is an overall better OS for the same price. The benefits over gaming are marginal but some of the other features are nice (such as the faster boot). There is also the issue of Microsoft not extending the newest DX features into 7 but keeping them exclusive to 8. I also actually like and prefer the new UI, the start menu program list was an outdated POS that I hadn't used since Vista's search got decent.

Typical shit move of microsoft. Hold gamers hostage to adopt a shit platform because they know no one will buy their frankenstein OS when 7 is perfect.

Anyone have any advice on putting together a PC for virtualizing/labbing for the MCSA Server 2008? My pc is about 6-7 years old and I'm about to build an entirely new rig, ideally something that will last a few years. Not really too concerned with gaming, just want something that can virtualize lab environments and be super fast for day to day use. I've never really built a PC from scratch before, so I'm starting my research now. Thinking a 250g SSD for OS/VMs, a 3TB SATA for all my media, 16-32gb ram, probably a low end or mid range video card. I've put aside $1000-$1200 for it.

I hear opteron is the undefeated champ of virtualization.

Get a B85 chipset motherboard (or whatever the haswell version is called) and a non-k cpu for vPro & stuff support.

Looking for some advice. Comp I am using has AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor 2.8GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor ADX240OCGQBOX on a board with ddr2 1333 4gigs ram and a geforce 9800gt.It's a bit sluggish in high traffic areas in pandaria wow. Also like to play bf3. Was thinking about doing some part upgrades without blowing a ton of money. 460w power supply. What's the best move for upping performance? Should I up the ram to 8gigs and use a pci-e 2.0 newer series card. Any advice on what will be best bang for buck is appreciated.

Cheapest option is probably a new card, more RAM might make a difference, but 4 gigs is ok for 32-bit applications. I am not familiar with that AMD chip but going by your card it is around 6 years old? In that case I'd scoop up something cheap to hold you over until you can rebuild the whole system. I don't know enough about cheap/low-end cards to recommend one.

Get the i5-3570k or if you're not interested in overclocking, get a B/H chipset motherboard instead of Z and you can also get a cheaper psu (750W is overkill for what you want). Also you might want to push for a Gtx 660 / 660 Ti.
