Right on. I'll give the fractals a look. Is a Platinum rated PSU really needed/reasonable for Office work? Hell, I think I have a gold in my 5-year-old gaming rig.

On a related note, am I overdoing it with the m.2 drive over a standard SSD? We're talking about an upgrade from a 5400 rpm laptop drive, so any SSD will be a huge difference.

Sanity check? Any thoughts on different parts to consider? Thanks in advance for any help.

I most likely am (waaaay) over doing it on the PSU, and I am not married to the monitor. The B550 mb is apparently not compatible with the 3400g, so I went with a x570.

Don't think that mobo has wifi. Can work around that with a pcie card or usb stick, but I prefer it out of the box.

I love NVME. If you want more bang for your buck, though:

I run evos for c: and d: and this crucial for e:

tbh, it seems just as good as the evos.

I need a cheap Win10 key, where should I buy it from to not-get-scammed but also not shell out $140-$200?

Got one 2 days ago for 5.99 on ebay

That aside picked up a nice set of ram for winter build - pretty legit on the timing -

Some do work -

I am assuming you leaving room to upgrade later on with the x570 for the 3400G - What will this PC be used for?

Same room as the router, so no worries there.

ASUS's page did indicate that their B550's don't.

Home office, watching Youtube, and maybe light gaming (Stardew Valley/Minecraft level stuff). I haven't built an AMD system since like 2001 (and it was a shitshow), so I don't know enough to be dangerous with regards to what MB to use.

I mean, it's a $13 difference which you'll make up in savings on electricity over the course of a year or two. And the better build quality on top of that.

Have you considered the 3600 which is like 159? Then maybe a 1050ti which is dirt cheap but quite baller for a super budget build - That or a 1650.

Amazon product ASIN B07STGGQ18
cheaper by $10 at microcenter and you get 20 off with MB purchase.

I guess the 1050ti is a thing of the past with the 1650 out

It brings up the overall cost a bit more but it gives you better legs.

If you go the route of ebay you'd actually do even better.

cpu price is same as in stores but an RX 580 4GB or 8GB pulse or nitro will do good.

I'm trying to keep the budget at around $800. Like I said, I can pass on my old 970gtx once the 3000 series is released, so I'm trying to avoid buying a vid card now. Particularly since the system is going to be used for MS Word, Zoom meetings, and Youtube.

it's 30bucks
North Bayou Monitor Desk Mount Stand Full Motion Swivel Monitor Arm Gas Spring for 17''-27'' Computer Monitor from 4.4lbs to 14.3lbs i was able to get 2 for 20 each, looks like it was a price error, still they're awesome and BETTER than my ergotrons in strength. i had a 27 vewsonic on there and it was smooth, then i hooked up an old ass hp 24 (this was 10years old?) so that thing was heavy, on an ergotron and that monitor arm just drooped like a bitch. Nabbed another of that $20 monitor arm and it held it tight (and at the designated angle) like a champ. Of course then the wife said having a 27 and 24 is funky, so i just nabbed another 27 viewsonic.
Looks like these guys don't make a quad monitor mount. Looking for a quad monitor mount for a work application, and remembered you talking about how good these guys are and cheap.

Any suggestions for a quad monitor mount that'll hold up? Got a guy at work looking at some $600 solution and I feel like I could do better.

I cannot use the 970 until the 3000 series comes out and I upgrade. I can't wait for that to do the build, as a replacement is needed for work before then.

Completed reflooring my house and getting rid of my carpet. I moved my office to a different room in the house.

During this I recognized that I need a superior router as I've just been getting by with the ATT Fiber gateway they offer. Once I enabled the broadband steering the constant shifting, due to signal strength on my devices I assume, is noticeable and mega annoying.

So I bought a recommended Netgear router to deal with this.

Now I may be a software engineer but god damn do I fucking hate networking bullshit. Has anyone ever done this?

Using a lone router for a full home? How big is your house? For wifi you may run into issues - for hardline it depends if you have ethernet ports in rooms etc for home cabling.

My house is 1500SQFT, so I got the 2000SQFT Netgear. I've always used wifi. I don't have ethernet ports in my house and don't care. I got by with the ATT Gateway for the past 4 years without many complaints.

Hey looking for advice on a new build. I'll be getting a 3080 for it probably when that's out, for now I'll just throw in a 1060. It's mainly for gaming, and the monitor is already bought.
