So on PC Part picker there are a number of parts not available that are in my build and fully compatible. I do a Google search, and the part is on their website but it's not on the compatibility list for the setup so it won't let me add it. Weird example... I'm running a first gen Ryzen 1700 with stock Wraith cooler, but the wraith cooler isn't listed at all for me to choose as my CPU cooler. I can add it as a "custom" thing.

My RAM wasn't in there, despite pulling the model number right off the stick. Do a Google search, and it's the Fortis line from GSkill, but not in the PC Part Picker system. Power supply wasn't in there either. Just weird shit that I haven't seen before with PC Part Picker, but probably because my system is so old?

Anyone else know a work around, or am I choosing wrong parts?

pc partpicker assumes if you don't choose "cpu cooler" that just means youre using stock cooler that is supplied

most everyone does, aside from a few one offs that don't come w/ coolers

To add to the "Bios Flashback" fun. My Asus B550-I board wouldn't even show signs of life until I socketed a CPU in it, then suddenly the board has power and I can stick my thumb drive in and hit the bios update button.

So, these bios updates without turning the system on are all completely different. But I'll find out tomorrow if it actually updated and will boot when I get my new case and can fully assemble the system.
did your mb had a bios flashback slot on the ioshield?

it's usually the slot right next to the flashback button

like my tomahwak 550 has a built in i/o shield maybe easier to see

then i got the gigabyte 550 (cuz i like them more)

and same thing, follow the button for the flashbios slot

Yes, it's what I used.

But unlike Denamian's board, mine doesn't work unless the cpu socket is populated. Once I stuck a cpu in it and plugged my psu in, suddenly the headphone jacks lit up and my thumbdrive powered on and the bios flash button worked. Prior to having a cpu installed, the board acted completely dead.

As someone who is interested in upgrading my desktop in the next year, what is the outlook like on video cards? Is there such a shortage just because of covid? I'm not willing to pay triple for the part of the pc that's already the most expensive.

It’s covid plus high demand from people skipping the 2xxx generation plus a large performance leap year. You’ll be able to get them easier in a few months. eBay listing prices have been slowly dropping. Eventually it won’t be worth scalping anymore and stock will catch up with demand.

You'll probably be able to walk into a store and not be forced to combo, in order to purchase, an above msrp card in maybe 6 months from now.

Sounds good. I was hoping things would calm down sometime soon. I have no idea what card I want but you can't find anything right now so it doesn't really matter.

I posted this in the other thread but I went to Microcenter this morning to get a 5600 and about half a dozen guys were standing around asking the employees about the five 3080s they supposedly had in stock. They were gone in under 30 minutes of the store opening. One guy ended up taking a liquid cooled 3090 for $1800 though!

I do admittedly like the o11 dynamic, it has a lot of ways to route things and the layout is pretty well done.

Fuck me, EK has a fake bottom to their backplate package that hides the screws. Reeeeeee. Well, hopefully I can install this without much of a headache with the card already in my system.

I should really get on ordering custom cable mod cables. I'm probably going to wait until I actually get a 5900x and motherboard though, in case those locations move runs.

I'm getting antsy to rebuild though. I might have to start trying harder to get a processor.

No sexy unifans, no showcase hardline tubing, rgb disabled, brown and gray every thing. Cabling needs work since the stock corsair psu pci-e cables both come with splits by default, sigh.

I think it weighs 50lbs.

Xexx Xexx Are you the client?

Lol id rather build my own - also that looks kind of ridiculous - I just finished my custom setup and im ready to sell it and try something else

Also the dam cpu is always 15-20 degrees warmer than the gpu and it warms the gpu - i need to change the loop somehow so that there is a second 240 or 360 radiator between the gpu and cpu - at the moment i have a small 120 but last night the gpu temp rose to like 65 and brought the gpu up to 55 - also weird is the water level started to rise on its own? I am thinking of a way to have the 120 radiator go to a 240 or 360 and then down to the cpu since the cpu then goes to a 360 and distro before going back into the gpu -
